10 basic spare parts for your trial bike

Not all fans have a large space at home to carry out trial maintenance, but we can gather a basic spare part that allows us to get out of a good predicament in the middle of the mountains or, failing that, easily solve it at home and continue riding a motorcycle.
Surely you have seen more than one case where a morning of trial is ruined by a simple lever, or cases where there is no way to hold a split fender due to lack of simple flanges.
These tips for solving basic problems with your trial bike can help you get out of trouble. Our recommendation is that you organize a fanny pack or backpack with this decalogue and you will go out to the mountains much calmer. Another idea, if you usually go out in a group, is to organize the replacement among all those who go, so that you do not carry duplicate tools.

BASIC SPARE PART FOR THE TRIAL BIKE

1. Brake lever and clutch: any small fall, even from a standstill, can ruin your outing on the mountain. It is important that you have a set of spare levers and you will be able to change it yourself in less than 5 minutes. It is also interesting to have a set of the pump repair kit, which consists of the rubber bellows and the spring that actuates the lever pusher.
2. Gear lever: when they break they usually do so at the tip and leave some margin to get home, but if we have the spare part, all the better. Be careful with the wrench to disassemble it. Normally it is an 8mm fixed or an allen (usually they are only valid if they are L-shaped or the skid plate has a specific hole).
3. Rear brake lever: we won’t be able to solve a broken hose or other brake fluid leak on the fly, but we can easily replace a brake lever.
4. Handlebars: in this case it is not to carry around, but to quickly solve a fall that has damaged the handlebars at home. It takes about 15 minutes to replace and is a fairly straightforward task.
5. Throttle cover: it doesn’t take up space and is essential. If the cover is lost or broken, the wheel that conducts the throttle cable inside may come off, which can be dangerous.
6. Screws of various sizes: if you lose a screw on the fin, gearbox, lever support… Any basic emergency can be solved with a handful of basic screws.
7. Front camera: another spare part to keep at home. To disassemble the wheel you will need some detachables and remove the wheel from the fork, but with a little patience and skill you can solve it yourself in just over 30 minutes.
8. Cable ties: they can solve a big problem in the middle of the field. From holding a fender, a headlight holder, holding a hose, reinforcing a fastening. Another trick is to carry them inside the handlebar protector, so you can always make sure you have it on you.
9. Puncture Repair Kit: The tubeless rear tire can be easily repaired with a kit sold by, among others, Jitsie. It is a rubber that, with the help of a tool, is inserted into the tire and plugs the puncture. It can even be a definitive solution and last perfectly for the entire life of the tyre.

10. Gasoline hose. It will help you fix any fuel leaks.
As an additional element, we also recommend carrying a chain link. One trick is to have it permanently attached to the gas cap pipe held in place by a flange. That way we will always carry it with us and it can solve a good ballot for us.
Finally, it doesn’t hurt to bring a spare spark plug.
