Historic result of an electric motorcycle in the trial world championship

Gael Chatagno has made history at the Andorran GP at the controls of an Electric Motion EPure Race 2023. The French rider, who is not competing in the Trial World Championship, decided to compete in the Andorra GP within the Trial2 category, thus repeating the experience of 2022, where he did do more races in the world championship.

The surprise was that, on Saturday, Gael drove spectacularly and managed to climb to second place on the podium, finishing just one point away from victory. The merit is very great, since these electric trial bikes have been competing for two seasons in their own right with the combustion engines, without any regulatory or technical benefit. In addition, this podium happens in the most competitive category of the championship, with more than thirty high-level riders and in the context of a tough race, with a lot of mud, little traction and strong obstacles.

This podium is a step forward for electric trial bikes to continue gaining confidence and consolidate themselves in a completely logical alternative to favor the opening to new audiences and improve how we are seen with the motorcycle in the mountains.

During this year, Gael Chatagno has also participated in the famous 6 Days of Trial Scotland with success. Regarding Electric Motion, the technical manager for the evolution of the brand and the project is the iconic former trial rider Marc Colomer. Here you can watch a Trialworld interview with Marc Colomer about the role and future of the electric trial bike.
