The Spanish Trial Championship has held its second round for the current 2023 season in Gironella (Barcelona), where the TR1 riders battled it out for the first time outdoors this season.
In the context of a trial that was a priori not very selective in terms of level, mistakes would be paid dearly among the leading riders and low scores were expected, with no margin for recovery. The first thing that caught the attention of the top category is the line-up of riders, where we see again names that until now were competing in France, such as Arnau Farré or Jeroni Fajardo, or the participation of the British Toby Martyn and the Norwegian Sondre Haga.
It is still the first “outdoor” race of the year, but the dispersion of scores among the TR1 drivers is striking. There is a 72-point difference between the winner, Adam Raga, and the last-placed Sondre Haga, who also compete for a good part of the X-Trial World Championship and is the reigning World Champion in Trial2. Let’s remember that the regulations of the Spanish Trial Championship are STOP and in the World Championship it is NONSTOP.
JAIME BUSTO, LEADER FOR MOST OF THE RACE, RAGA WINS
Jaime Busto He was the one who held the lead of the race throughout the first lap and half of the second, until in zone six he shot an arrow and added five more points to his partial, which would end up being decisive in the face of a victory that ended up ceding in favor of Adam Raga, who was more consistent and only left himself three points on this lap, for a total of six, eight for Busto and the same eight for Aniol Gelabert.
EQUAL IN TR2, GIL VILA AT THE TOP
In TR2 there was also a lot of equality, with the winner being Gil Vila with six points, ahead of Pau Martínez and Pau Dinares, both with seven points.
RODRIGO MARCHAL, NEW VICTORY IN TR3
In TR3 second consecutive victory for Rodrigo Marchal and his Electric Motion, ahead of Víctor Palomares and Sergio Puyo.
