Estripeau, promoter of X-Trial: “We want a format with more nationalities and young people”

The X-Trial World Championship has a new promoter, a new vision and also a new format. This is what Bernard Estripeau tells us, after the celebration of the X-Trial of Nice 2022:

“I must say that it was a success with more than 4,000 spectators thanks to the work of the Moto Club de la Gaude and its partners. It is important that the public fills the stands in each of the races; Not only because of the atmosphere it generates, but also because it makes this exciting specialty available to the maximum number of fans. On the other hand, the race was very competitive and the small differences between the drivers gave it a lot of emotion.”

NEW FORMAT OF THE X-TRIAL 2022

Here are the main changes:

A 1st Round in which the 8 chosen drivers participate.

The 2nd Round is contested by the top 6 finishers from the 1st Round.

The Final puts the 3 best drivers in the standings in contention once the scores of the 1st Round + the 2nd Round have been added.

In this way, the drivers have all the zones of the 1st and 2nd Rounds to try to fight to enter the Final. In addition, we have introduced a rule that allows the best of the first round and the best of the second round to score one more point towards the World Championship standings.

MORE COMMITMENT TO THE PLURALITY OF NATIONALITIES

In agreement with the FIM, we have decided to open this championship to a greater number of nationalities in order to bring a truly international dimension and, in this way, increase the visibility of this discipline.

In Nice there were 5 different nationalities competing; something that hadn’t happened in many years. On the other hand, with this decision we favor young riders as we give them the opportunity to be part of the ranking of this 2022 World Championship.

NEXT STEPS IN THE X-TRIAL

From next year we will go to more European countries than this season, but I also hope that we will visit other continents.

As for the participants, I hope to be able to add pilots of more nationalities. I would like this spectacular sport to shine and be known all over the world. Without a doubt, it is an ambitious goal, but if the whole world of Trial collaborates, we will surely achieve it.
