Jack Peace beats Toby Martyn in Neath, South Wales

This second round of the 2022 ACU Trial GB series took place at Lletty Rafel Farm, Aberdulais, Neath, South Wales, where riders competed for the St David’s Cup. 63 participants have registered in the Trial GB, Trial 2, Trial 125 and Expert categories

As far as the weather is concerned, it has remained clear, warm and dry throughout the day.

The riders had to go through 12 sections, with three laps each, where the riders overcame wooded, aggregated and rocky areas.

TECHNICAL PART

The 2022 championship includes a one-minute time to do each zone, competitors, however, can stop, go sideways or retreat without penalty.

However, backing away while putting one foot on includes a five-point penalty. Another change is that the winner of the previous round, i.e. the one who has done the fewest feet, will be the winner of the previous round, so the winner of the previous round will be the first runner to start in the next round.

WINNER OF THIS EDITION

The winner of the first section was Toby Martyn , TRS driver, who led the opening of the sections on the first lap.

While the danger of opening offered a great deal of grip in the sessions once the drivers had passed, sunlight in the shade, the conditions soon became more challenging. Martyn used all his knowledge and experience, but when the scorecards were handed out, it was Sherco’s Jack Peace who held a slight two-point lead over Martyn who had 25.

Jack Peace , as the competition has progressed, has further extended his early lead with an improved score on the second lap.

On the last lap he improved his score again with the best lap of the race with 19 points lost to also secure the extra point of the championship to take a deserved victory against Martyn.

"Jack Peace and Toby Martyn are tied in the overall standings after the second round of the British Nationals."

How did you live the Jack Peace experience?

“I started well, which is always a good indicator. On the first lap there was danger as Martyn and I were very close, but the results improved as the event progressed as the hot and dry air dried out the sections. This was reflected in the score of my third lap, which was the best of the test. In these situations, tyre choice is essential with the ever-changing conditions and the response and feel of the tyres at Michelin gave me the confidence to fight for the win after the hotly contested first lap.”
