Takahisa Fujinami, after his long and successful career as a driver, hung up his boots at the end of the last 2021 World Championship, Fujinami is the new head of the Repsol team. As the former rider said in an official statement from the brand, for him it is a big change from last year.
The Japanese rider has also not forgotten to talk about his relationship with Toni Bou, the trial world champion whom he has known for more than 15 years due to their common career in the world of sport. Fujinami said: “Watching Toni train these last few weeks, I can say that he is stronger than ever. In this sense, I’m quite confident that I can have a great season.”
Fujinami, regarding the team’s new signing, Gabriel Marcelli said that “he has improved a lot. He’s made a big change, both mentally and technically, and the team has helped him a lot. It’s a shame that he can’t be in the first X-Trial race because of the new regulations, but we’re confident that he can join in the next rounds. It will be difficult for him to fight to win the championship, but for sure he will be in the top positions, as he did last year, for example, in the X-Trial in Barcelona.”
According to the former Montesa rider, this preseason the whole team has worked hard, not only the riders, but also the Montesa Cota 4RT has been improved according to the Japanese.
