Jorge Casales, official Scorpa Factory rider in 2022 and 2023

Scorpa announces the introduction of Jorge Casales as an official Scorpa Racing Factory driver for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. This fact implies the direct landing of Scorpa in the highest category of the TrialGP World Championship.

Along with Jorge Casales, Scorpa has announced the signing of Berta Abellán and Adrià Mercadè.

This event marks the end of a very complicated year for Jorge Casales. After qualifying fourth in the world championship in 2020, all predictions placed the Galician rider among the favourites among the youngsters to consolidate himself in the top 3 of TrialGP. Far from that, Casales’ season has been marked by instability, bad luck and a lack of confidence in his official GASGAS team.

Among the most relevant facts, we have the accident on the day before the start of the Spanish Championship in Arteixo; his positive test in COVID19 in the Italian GP or the fainting suffered in the Spanish Championship in Pobladura de las Regueras. This, together with other events, led to the divorce between GASGAS and Jorge Casales after the X-Trial in Andorra, arriving at the X-Trial in Barcelona as a private rider at the controls of a GASGAS with no trace of the brand’s logos. Since then, until the announcement of the alliance, the secrecy about Jorge’s future has been maximum.

Jorge Casales with Scorpa

Jorge Casales is a Scorpa rider for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. A breath of fresh air for the Galician rider, who speaks of Scorpa and Sherco (sister brands) as a family structure, very professional, but above all more comfortable for Jorge’s high aspirations.

As he explained to us in the interview that you can see below, his second year in the official GASGAS team was really difficult. He never felt comfortable, neither with the bike nor with the team. And this is something reflected in his modest results in the 2021 season, where he finished ninth out of a total of twelve riders.

This is the Scorpa Factory 2022

In this Scorpa 2022 range, work has been done on both the chassis and the mechanics. Firstly, the gearbox has been modified to include a longer second gear that allows drivers to tackle large obstacles with the necessary torque without reducing the speed required to overtake them.

On the other hand, it has been decided to reduce the compression of the engine for greater progression and flexibility. A recommendation proposed by the factory riders.

At the level of suspensions, Scorpa maintains its commitment to a Tech and Reiger set, a formula for success. As for the shock absorber, we have worked with the R+D team, developing new settings for the Reiger 2V shock absorber with the aim of obtaining a better response capacity when the bike goes through large obstacles.
