We visited the Vertigo Motors factory to learn more about the company’s philosophy, its production model and the keys that have motivated the launch of a completely new model in 2022, such as the Vertigo Nitro.
As soon as we arrived, we were kindly welcomed by Dani del Valle, commercial manager of the brand in Spain and a key figure in the strategic positioning of the brand due to his extensive experience in the sector.
In the main reception we have several units of Vertigo Combat and Vertical that have participated in the Six Days of Scotland with Dougie Lampkin, highlighting the first prototype of the brand, with which the British pilot won the Scottish. The peculiarity is that the bikes are just as they arrived from Fort William, with the mud and Scottish moss in their bowels.
THE BEGINNINGS OF VERTIGO
Vertigo is an innovative and disruptive brand. Its tubular chassis, the location of certain components, the exhaust system, the fuel tank, the injection… Everything was configured with an unprecedented philosophy in the sector. To date, only Ossa had released a two-stroke bike powered by electronic injection. And Vertigo went down that path.
THREE SAGAS IN JUST SIX YEARS
Innovation involves risks and a commitment to aspects that are sometimes unexplored. At Vertigo they have been able to rapidly evolve their bikes and apply amateur learning and competition in their ranges.
In 2016, the Campo and Ice Hell models were born, the first versions of the brand. Subsequently, in 2018, the Vertigo Vertical arrived on the market, with interesting mechanical and chassis improvements. La Vertical has been the brand’s most successful model, coinciding with the signing of Jaime Busto, who has established himself as a firm contender for the world title in 2022. It was precisely in 2021 that the brand’s new saga, the Vertigo Nitro, was presented.
THE VERTIGO MOTORS FACTORY
As it could not be otherwise, at Vertigo we work with great excellence. We went through the engine department. and we had the opportunity to get to know the innards of the new engine of the Vertigo Nitro. A work of art. Everything is designed to make the assembly quick and also, consequently, the maintenance of the bike. For example, the derailleur is a complete cassette that fits perfectly in one piece on its right side. Or the mechanical accessibility offered by the engine bay.
From there we move on to the production line, where approximately ten motorcycles are assembled daily. Previously, there is a pre-assembly of certain components, such as the engine that we have previously discussed, the electronics, plastics, front axle, controls…
After the assembly, there is an important task of checking and supervising the operation. Once this has been done, it is palletised and prepared for distribution.
In Vertigo we also find a spare parts department, the part of the office dedicated to management and development R+D+i.
In addition, there is a second hall where the competition and new developments department is located. This is where projects materialize and are transferred to test or competition bikes.
The conclusion is that we are facing an ambitious, well-organized factory, with a short trajectory, but intense in terms of technical expertise, and a great future ahead with the new Vertigo Nitro that we tell you about below.
