It has been a truly spectacular weekend for trial in our country. Yesterday was the last round of the World Championship of the speciality in which Toni Bou and Laia Sanz were proclaimed champions. The two best Trial riders of all time left no room for doubt and took two titles, with him 29 (indoor plus outdoor) and she 14.
Today the Trial of Nations took place at the same venue, Gouveia (Portugal), and the joys continued.
"The national team has added its 27th world team title, this year made up of Bou, Raga and Busto."
Bou, Raga and Busto take Spain’s 27th crown
Toni Bou, Adam Raga and Jaime Busto were the three riders who made up the Spanish team in this Trial of Nations. Throughout the season they had already shown that they were the three best at the moment, so Spain was the big favourite.
The race was spectacular on their part and they made a perfect trial scoring only 1 point. Seamless and without giving any option to their rivals. Thus, the Spanish team has added 27 titles in the TdN. France and Italy have been with Spain in the drawers of honour.
Sanz, Abellán and Gómez join the party
If the performance of the three riders of the men’s team has been round, so has that of Laia Sanz, Berta Abellán and Sandra Gómez. Especially Laia and Berta came to the race super motivated after having won the Sanz gold medal and the Abellán bronze medal in 2021. In addition, Sandra, who did a great job at the ISDE just two weeks ago, has also done a great job.
With them, Spain sought to add a new title and they have made it possible by giving the best of each one. They have only had 5 penalties compared to Great Britain’s 12 and Norway’s 22 who have completed the podium.
