Toni Bou wins the French GP in Cahors and strengthens his lead

Toni Bou has returned to the top of the podium at the French GP, held in the town of Cahors, followed by Adam Raga and Jaime Busto, who maintains his consistent results in an extraordinary way.

As for Trial2, the victory went to Toby Martyn, who completed the entire route without any penalty, a feat that returns him to the lead of the provisional classification. The results, very tight, have allowed Aniol Gelabert and Alex Ferrer to join the Briton in the positions of honour.

JACK DANCE AND GAEL CHATAGNO, WORLD CHAMPIONS

As for Trial 125 and Trial-E, which officially ended their season in France after the cancellation of the British GP, it leaves us with two new world champions: Jack Dance (GASGAS) in the eighth litre, and Gael Chatagno (Electric Motion) in electric.

"Toni Bou increases the gap in the general classification, with Adam Raga eleven points behind, with only 60 points left to play."

CAHORS, URBAN STYLE

Cahors is a very special enclave as it hosts the spectacular Cahors Urban Trial. And this heritage has been noticed in the route of the French GP, with artificial areas of stone blocks, combined with a few natural ones. A low-scoring trial was expected, where any mistake could be vital in the final result, as Toni Bou acknowledged: “Seeing the sections on Saturday, I knew I would have to be very focused. I made a few mistakes on the first lap, but on the second lap I lapped clean. It’s a great result to bounce back from Andorra.”

NEW DUEL BETWEEN RAGA AND BUSTO

Adam Raga made two important mistakes that took him away from the fight for victory and forced him to think about managing second place over Busto, something he achieved by just one point. Miquel Gelabert completed the TOP 4, although with a much bigger card than Busto. The group of top five was closed by Fujinami in a race from less to more.

Behind, this season’s breakout rider, Matteo Grattarola, finished sixth, just ahead of Casales and Marcelli. Rounding out the standings are Bincaz and Jeroni Fajardo.

DECLARATIONS

toni bou (P1)"I'm really happy with how the weekend went. It was a trial of not making mistakes and that's what we did. One of the most complicated areas was section 1, where we made a different line to the other riders and it went very well. I'm happy with the choice because it worked for us and, in addition, it went well for me to gain confidence. I want to thank the team who have done a great job. We had problems in Andorra, this week as well and everyone has worked very hard day and night to be able to solve them, so today's victory is a great prize for everyone. We're still in the lead, it's important, but it's even more important to get the good feeling back on the bike."

ADAM RAGA (P2)"The race went well overall. Zone one was perhaps one of the most complicated and we got through it well, but on the other hand two other mistakes on the first lap prevented us from fighting for the victory here. The important thing on the second lap was to keep second place and score the maximum number of points for the championship, which we achieved."

TAKAHISA FUJINAMI (P5)"I had a pretty bad first lap today. I had some problems with the bike, but after the first lap the mechanics worked on it and in the second pass through the sections I felt better. I was able to recover quite a few positions and finally I tied with fourth only 30 seconds behind. The important thing is that in the second lap I got the good feeling back and we were able to come back. I want to thank the team for the great work today and all week."
