The French brand, leader in electric trial motorcycles, confirms the presence of the second edition of the Electric Motion EPure Comp. As with last year’s range, it will be manufactured in a limited edition format and only approximately 75 units will be available to importers worldwide.
The new Electric Motion EPure Comp 2022 is the confirmation of the strong technological progress that electric trial bikes are experiencing, whose performance is at the level of any explosion model as far as amateur riding is concerned. First, because they share the key elements of the cycle part; and secondly, because we are dealing with versatile, high-performance mechanics, capable of emulating different displacements and power delivery formulas at the touch of a button.
NEW POWER MAPS IN THE COMP
In this new Comp edition, the power maps are expanded from the usual three (green, blue and red) to six. To do this, under the base of the seat we find a switch that, once changed mode, modifies the three standard maps into three other “pro” maps.
To complete this map change operation, it is only necessary to reactivate the controller with a simple process of removing and putting back the “man overboard” device.
TKO system. This IS the idle of the Electric Motion
With the three original power maps, the EPure is able to work at 70-80% of its torque and power, or at full capacity. This makes it possible to dynamically adapt, without stopping, the traction and response speed of the electronic throttle for maximum efficiency. For example, with the green map, the most basic, more gas control travel is used, obtaining millimeter precision and traction unprecedented in the market. Then we go through the blue map and finally the red map, where it deploys a power equivalent to a 300cc 2-stroke.
At Comp 2022 , Electric Motion’s team of engineers, under the leadership of Marc Colomer in terms of development, have taken a step forward for those looking for even more precision in high performance.
The TKO (Tick Over) is activated once the device is activated that gives way to the second group of maps. Here we find a first map, the green one, with more response than the green of the first group, but without the idling effect. It is by moving to the blue and red maps that the TKO system is automatically activated, which basically does the effects of an idle by raising the engine revs to 700rpm.

Mechanical clutch on the Electric Motion EPure
Why does this bike need to idle? It is not really necessary for most cases, but the riders of the Trial-E World Championship have successfully tested this system, as it brings extra inertia to the engine and the riding is much more similar to an internal combustion bike.
Basically, you can see it on consecutive or large steps, where this extra rev helps you in the last section of the obstacle.
One of the consequences of selecting maps with TKO is that the rider works more with the mechanical clutch that the EPure incorporates in its Race and Comp versions. A diaphragm clutch system that works exactly the same as on combustion engines.
While on maps without TKO we could drive without touching the clutch at any time, with the device actuated it is necessary to modulate all the power more precisely. In short, these are two competition maps.
2022 ELECTRIC MOTION EPURE COMP ENGINE UPGRADES
In the new Comp, the engine increases performance by increasing the maximum rev range, a modification that should presumably be incorporated into the 2022 range as well.
Finally, work has been done on the ergonomics of the pilot. The map changer and LED indicator are now moved to the left of the handlebars, next to the grip. This way it’s easier to know which map you’re driving on.
As a novelty, this control unit also includes a button that acts as a regenerative brake (FRB), which allows a dynamic recharge of the battery by simply operating it on descents or wherever we want.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE LITHIUM BATTERY
The lithium battery of the Electric Motion EPure Comp has a capacity of 1.9Wh, giving it a range of approximately 3 hours on the move and the ability to recharge in less than 3 hours. If we talk about equivalences, with a full battery charge we have something less than what represents a tank and a half of gasoline in an internal combustion motorcycle.
In the new Comp we see that the structure of the battery is maintained in dimensions, although the graphics are now directly engraved on it, instead of with a sticker. As in its predecessor, it can be detached in just a couple of minutes to proceed with its loading in a different place to where the bike is located.
FIRST-LEVEL CYCLE PART
The suspension scheme is another of the great differentiating points of the Electric Motion EPure Comp. At the front, it is equipped with the top-of-the-range Tech fork, with aluminium bars, specifically the Aluminium PRO model.
Behind us we have the big differentiating point compared to the EPure Race: the three-way Reiger shock absorber instead of the R16V. In this way, a first-class cycle part scheme is achieved, according to the exclusivity provided by this limited edition.
FINISHES
The list of new features is rounded off by other top-notch components, such as the S3 Hard Rock footpegs in aluminium (instead of the S3 Steel), the machined and anodised seatposts in blue, the eccentric S3 Parts in aluminium and new LED front optics.
The Electric Motion EPure Comp, like the entire range of the brand, has Euro5 approval, is registrable and can be driven with a B (two years of experience) or A1 license.
The price of the Electric Motion EPure Comp is €11,800 and although the number of units that will be manufactured worldwide is not confirmed, it will be around 75 motorcycles.
