The TRS Motorcycles bestseller celebrates its fifth edition on the market. This is the most successful version of the Barcelona-based brand’s catalogue, with a share of more than 90%, which confirms that the user’s preferences are focused on a product with very high performance and a level of top-of-the-line components.
Aesthetically, it differs from the rest of the range by its red colour, which is the visual protagonist of its frame for the second consecutive year, with the addition that now the wheels are also anodised in the same colour. Let’s take a closer look at the new features of the 2021 range.

CHANGES TO THE TRRS ENGINE
The engine has been completely redesigned, in order to house the new crankcases cast in aluminum injection, substantially improving the finishes and achieving better behavior at low revs by increasing pre-compression.
The new clutch cover with oil level and fill display, all on the same side, makes it easy to maintain.
With the addition of the temperature sensor in the cylinder head, it is possible to control thermal vibrations and the optimal starting point of the fan, controlled by the new CDI, even better.
What’s New in Mechanics 125
The engine of the RR 125 cc is also significantly improved, its new crankshaft, piston and cylinder head give a considerable increase in power, as well as a reduction in vibrations.
In this case, the final 8-45 gearbox has also been reduced, with which better response and optimal use of the first three gears is achieved.

GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CHASSIS
As an extension of the new cylinder head temperature sensor, the bike’s electrical installation has been completely overhauled and a CDI adapted to the new specifications has also been incorporated.
Work has also been done on the air filter box in terms of tightness and drainage capacity. The water circulation tubes have been checked to avoid interference with the fan. It improves the ability to contain engine vibrations and the robustness of the exhaust system.
Aesthetically, in addition to the new graphics, we find a grey swingarm, the update of the Neken handlebar or the front disc protector with a different grille.
All these changes are common to the range, whatever the displacement.
The electric start of the TRRS
For the third year, TRRS offers the option of electric starter in the Raga Racing version. Until a few years ago it was unthinkable to think that a trial bike could have an electric starter. In a market whose context is one of eternal struggle for weight reduction and technical minimalism, thinking of a component that modifies the aesthetics of the crankcase and needs a battery to work, might seem like a utopia.
Nothing could be further from the truth. The user demands technology, ease of use and resources that are resolute in the mountains. And therefore, electric starter is a precious commodity, especially if you’re in a pinch.
Jordi Tarrés said in 2019: “I blindly believe in this project”.
The challenge required modifying the TRRS engine, introducing a new crankcase, new crankshaft and a new magnetic flywheel with its cover.
In its innards, it works with an oil-bathed bearing system. Work has been done to achieve an optimal gear ratio, driven by a powerful 500W MITSUBA SM18 motor together with a Lithium-Ion battery of only 400 grams located behind the headlight.
All this represents a final weight of slightly less than two kilos compared to the model of the same name without electric starter.
Thorough Test TRRS One R
In less than six years of experience, the technical team led by Jordi Tarrés has been able to conceive a benchmark bike in the current market, incorporating interesting technical solutions, but not disruptive. This has helped a rapid consolidation in the market and a growing popularity championed by its ease of use, lightness and high-performance mechanics.
With all this, a good number of tasks have been carried out in the new Raga Racing 2021 that are interesting in terms of reliability and comfort of use, such as the reduction of vibrations and the revision of robustness parameters. Dynamically, the sensations are not far from its predecessor.
KEY ASPECTS OF THE TRRS RR 2021
1) Steel Tech fork. It’s not the lightest, but its performance and smoothness are outstanding. Aesthetically very racing and well finished. It is worth knowing that in the electric start model the motorcycle is equipped with aluminum bars to compensate for the excess of the battery, which is placed behind the headlight.
2) Improvements in engine reliability and simplification of maintenance. The clutch cover now receives a handy display to check the condition of the oil and its level. On the other hand, the temperature sensor accurately monitors any overheating.
3) Improved finishes. The list of small changes is very extensive, showing that the sum of these components helps to improve the durability of the bike. The exhaust system is reinforced and better finished, as well as the swingarm, chain tensioner or the air filter box assembly.

At the controls of the TRRS One RR 2022
For this event we had the presence of a former TrialGP rider, a top rider like Oriol Noguera, with whom we had the opportunity to chat about the bike for his level of riding and share anecdotes from his time as a professional rider.
According to Oriol: “The TRRS is a very complete and easy bike to ride. You have a very good driving position, an outstanding chassis, and the engine is not short of power. With small adjustments to adapt it to the rider’s taste, you could already be racing a world championship event with it.”
Indeed, perhaps the strong point of this TRRS is that it is at a high level in all the main sections of behavior: chassis, mechanics and reliability. When you get behind the controls, you perceive that it is a friendly bike from the first minutes, with a very well worked aluminum chassis to provide poise and stability to the rider. In this 2021 edition we like to see that, indeed, the vibrations have been reduced and the overall finishes of the bike are very good.
The exhaust reinforcements and other technical solutions that we mentioned before, allow us to appreciate a further leap forward in the general level of the bike. We also like the solution of the new crankcases and clutch cover, which logically incorporates a practical display to check the condition of the oil and facilitate the maintenance of the mechanics.
"THE MATURITY REACHED BY THE TRRS RR IN ITS FIFTH EDITION IS WORTHY OF ADMIRATION. IN 2021 WORK HAS BEEN DONE TO IMPROVE THE RELIABILITY OF THE SET, REVIEW SMALL DETAILS IN DEPTH AND INCORPORATE INTERESTING MECHANICAL SOLUTIONS FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE BIKE."
The version we tested here is the standard one, without push-button start. However, if you’re interested in this point, here’s an in-depth test of the electric start on the TRRS. As a difference between both mechanics, in addition to the crankcases and the starter block on the left side, we mainly have the weight, with approximately two kilos between them. The advantage of the standard model is that the engine has a little more inertia and we noticed that it doesn’t tend to stall as much as the bike with electric start.
The 2021 TRRS RR engine is available in four displacements: 125, 250, 280 and 300cc. And at the same time, with the possibility of the aforementioned electric start, except in the 125cc. In total, seven possible configuration versions.
This mechanic is an absolute delight. The good thing is that the “three hundred” maintains the nobility of its predecessor and offers a response with a “logical” kick at low revs, without being as aggressive as the first versions of the brand. In other words, there is always an engine, but with very modulable power. Good feel of the gearbox and a clutch that each edition offers better performance.
Conclusions
The best
- Improved level of finishes
- Very balanced and complete bike
- Accessibility Air Filter
- Engine Response
To be improved
- Non-FIM homologated rear brake disc
- Final Flask of the Fragile Silencer in the Face of Shocks
- Access to the choke
In short, the 2021 model focuses on improving what is already there, without making big headlines. A good job to continue offering a highly reliable bike, with good components and a very balanced performance.
The suspensions, first level, like the brakes, do not undergo relevant changes. It’s worth remembering that, unlike the One R, the Reiger shock is two-way. In terms of aesthetics, the solid commitment to a red that continues to gain ground over yellow is maintained, even reaching the rims (novelty), seatposts, cooling hoses or chain tensioner.
The price of the new TRRS RR 2021 range ranges from €7,499 (300cc) for the standard model to €7,799 for the version with electric start.
