Gabriel Marcelli achieved a spectacular podium in the third scoring race for the 2020 X-Trial World Championship, held in Budapest.
The rider from Montesa, reigning European Champion and Trial2 World Champion, faces his first season as a permanent rider in this indoor discipline. In the select areas of the Budapest Arena, he placed in a good fifth position in the first round, just one point behind the second-placed team. Therefore, maximum equality.
In the semi-finals he battled alongside Toni Bou and Jaime Busto. He managed to vastly outperform the Vertigo rider and take a place in the final duel for third and fourth place, with a veteran rival like Jeroni Fajardo. This final was decided by a single zone in favor of Marcelli, whose record in the preliminary phase (18 points) was better than that of Fajardo (25 points).
Gabriel Marcelli (3rd):
“Right now I’m floating. To have achieved my first podium in the X-Trial World Championship is extraordinary. The test was very hard and very demanding. I’m very satisfied and happy because this result helps me to consolidate myself among the best.”
