Hebo is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of specialized trial equipment. Throughout its more than 25 years of history, if there is one thing that stands out in its catalog for tradition and popularity, it is trial boots and helmets.
On this occasion we contacted the Girona brand to test the new Technical 2.0 trial range. To understand these boots, we have to go back to the first edition of this model, in 2019.
The premises are still very accurate.
On the one hand, to make a boot with different hardnesses of material, differentiating the areas that require flex from those that do not, such as the toe. This allows you to reinforce safety at certain points without compromising efficiency or comfort.
Secondly, the issue of closures. It makes sense to place the top Velcro (the effectiveness was proven in the Hebo Tech Comp boot) to ensure a good fit of the upper, thus preserving the interior from elements such as dirt or mud. The point of these editions was to adjust the optimal length of the velcro so that “there is neither too much nor too little”.
Third, place the colors where there is no friction with the bike, looking for durability and aesthetics.
Fourth, the soles of the Tech Comp model are inherited, with reinforcements in the central part of the boot (footpegs) and front area on the right (brake pedal).
New Hebo Trial Boots 2021
Although the overall aesthetics of the Hebo Technical Micro 2.0 2021 do not vary, except for the introduction of a new chromatic that combines fluorescent yellow and red colors, along with black and white (the protagonists of this report), Hebo does announce structural improvements in the boot.
We start from the premise that this is a microfiber boot, although it is also marketed in leather (Technical 2.0 Leather), with an internal polyester lining and “water resist” membrane.
In 2021, work has been done on the instep, revising its shape to slim it and reduce the height compared to its predecessor. The entire heel area has also been revised to improve flexion movements.
Finally, with the learning of these two previous editions, certain seams and components have been worked on to increase the durability of the boot.
It should be noted that, as usual, Hebo sells replacement soles and closures, so that the elements with the greatest wear can be replaced without the need to change the entire boot.

First Impressions
The first assessment of these boots is extraordinary. A well-finished boot, with interesting details such as the shin reinforcement, where we also find perforations for ventilation.
As in previous editions, compared to the competition we can say that it is a boot with a wider last. This gives us a double feeling. Off the bike, walking, maybe they feel a little heavier, but on the bike it helps to have more support surface over the width of the footpeg. Therefore, you feel well poised and comfortable at the same time, as you distribute more of the weight to the body on the bike.
We will continue to update the dynamic sensations of the boot as we accumulate hours of use, which is how we will be able to best understand the impact of the novelties introduced in this successful 2021 range.
