SSDT 2019 Breaks Request Records

The legendary Scottish Six Days Trial continues to break records for participation requests year after year. With a view to the 2019 edition, which will start on May 6 in Fort William (Scotland), a total of 541 applications have been registered for a maximum of 270 places.

The Scottish Six Days Trial has been held since 1909, only interrupted in two editions by the World Wars, making it the oldest motorsport event in history. The event is organised by Scotland’s historic Edinburgh & District Motor Club, based in Edinburgh, which was born in 1911 following the merger of several clubs in the region. The nerve center of the SSDT is located in Fort William, from where the riders travel about 160 kilometres a day around Lochay, areas that both due to the route and the harsh climate due to the wind and low temperatures, make this an extreme trial and test the skill and endurance of both the rider and his motorcycle.
The route runs through inhospitable natural landscapes where there are different areas that participants must overcome grouped into sections, some of which are popular for their uniqueness, hardness or for the landscape that surrounds them, such as Laggan Locks, Blackwater, Ben Nevis or the famous Pipeline, an area that runs parallel to an oil pipeline on a long ascent.
