Crushing victory for Raga and title for Toni Bou in Czechia

Toni Bou continues his dominance of the Trial World Championship in the last decade with the consolidation of his eleventh outdoor world title, all of them achieved consecutively and in parallel to the eleven achieved indoors.
The numbers for Toni Bou to win the title in the penultimate race of the calendar, in the Czech Republic, were statistically very affordable for the rider from Montesa. It was enough for him to be at least fourth, as long as
Adam Raga
won the race.
Toni Bou TrialGP Sokolov 2017
Things started well for
Toni Bou
, achieving a pole position that allowed him to start at the back and study well the lines of his rivals. Raga, sixth, would drive with fewer references. It was precisely in qualifying that the rain appeared and he stayed in Sokolov until the next day, coinciding with the start of the race. This point seemed decisive for the development of the race, as it was going to complicate to a large extent some areas that a priori seemed accessible.
Jaime Busto TrialGP Sokolov 2017
Despite the fact that most of the areas were forest and the water did not soak the terrain, the riders did encounter difficulties in the race. During the first lap all the favourites made mistakes, although
Jaime Busto
seemed to stand out in the early stages, while Raga recovered in the second half of the course. In the end, both had the same points after the first pass through the sections, although with an advantage for Raga taking into account the time penalties. Bou, third, kept the pulse of his rivals within the optimal margins to win the championship.
Jeroni Fajardo TrialGP Sokolov 2017
The second pass through the zones was crazier. Raga kept the pace, signing the best lap of the race, while Busto collapsed and saved the furniture with a good third place. These errors allowed Bou to climb one position in the standings, finishing second, a result valid for his eleventh title.
Fourth position for
Jeroni Fajardo
in a race from less to more, followed by
Fujinami
,
Cabestany
,
Gelabert
, Kadlec, Dabill and Casales.

FIRST WIN FOR MARC RIBA IN TRIAL2

In Trial2 it was a brilliant victory for Marc Riba, who made his debut on the top of the podium in this competitive category. He did so ahead of Britain’s Iwan Roberts and Jack Peace , who benefited from the tie-break against Francesc Moret. We highlight the seventh position of Aniol Gelabert and an atypical eighth place of Gabriel Marcelli, who accumulated more errors than necessary in a race that did not allow for concessions.

WOMEN’S TRIALGP: BRISTOW AND NEUS MURCIA SCORE VICTORIES

In Sokolov there were also the women, who were competing in their second Grand Prix. In the Women’s TrialGP , Emma Bristow won resoundingly, ahead of another of the big favourites, Sandra Gómez, and the German Wilde. Regarding the rest of the Spaniards, María Giró was sixth, Berta Abellán eighth and Mireia Conde tenth.
