Lampkin’s emotional victory at a Scottish for the ages

A new edition of the oldest and most demanding trial race has come to an end. The 2016 edition will be remembered for three main components: feeling, challenge and authenticity.
Feeling because its winner, Dougie Lampkin, has achieved his tenth title in this event just a few weeks after the death of his father, the legendary Martin Lampkin, so the podium ceremony has become a meeting of feelings difficult to conjugate. Dougie certainly couldn’t have paid a better tribute to his father.

Great challenges between brands. Both Vertigo, which already met its objectives in 2015, as well as

have managed to finish this tough race with bikes that have only been off the production lines for a few weeks. In addition, Montesa has ventured with a great challenge: that the mythical Amós Bilbao participates at the controls of a Montesa 4Ride, a motorcycle with an adventurous spirit and a priori less sporting qualities than any of its rivals.

Amos finished 21st.

Authenticity due to the weather. Tough conditions, especially during the first days, blackwaters, endless days of more than 8 hours on the bike and many kilometers to travel on motorcycles that are uncomfortable for this task. The everlasting Scottish moss, as always, has provided us with an idyllic setting to remember with more strength and pride where our sport comes from.
