Toni Bou leads the national team after his victory in Andorra

BOU NACIONAL14first and only time this year, CET 2014 has left our borders to visit the Principality of Andorra, nestled between France and Spain. To be exact, the town of Sant Julià de Lòria, which in mid-September will host the Trial of Nations (TdN) for the third time in its history, has been the chosen setting.

This is the third time that the national competition visits the Country of the Pyrenees. The previous two were in 2004 and 2007; the latter sharing the weekend with the outdoor World Cup.

The person in charge of bringing this fourth challenge of the season to a successful conclusion has been the Andorran Motorcycling Federation itself, who has prepared especially for the occasion a a completely different journey from the one that in just over three months our male and female representatives in the ToN will have to face.

As was the case last season, but in the World Cup, the victory here has corresponded to Toni Bou. 365 days ago, the reigning champion won the title in the second of the two rounds of the G.P. in Andorra.

Well, today, the Honda Repsol rider had to work hard to finish the day as the best in the 12 prepared sections. Not in vain, he has completed the obligatory route, which the TR1 overcome by passing twice consecutively through each of the zones, with a total of 13 points; the same as Jeroni Fajardo, in the end second classified in the tiebreaker by zeros. The last step on the podium went to Albert Cabestany, with 14 points. Adam Raga, third in Sigüenza, finished off the podium with a cumulative final score of 20 points. Behind him, with 10 more points on his card, was his teammate Jorge Casales.

In this same category, the riders of the RFME SPEA National Team Pol Tarrés and Oriol Noguera finished in sixth and eighth place, respectively.

National PodiumAndorra14 Jaime Busto, another member of the junior national team, has not been here, however. The Basque rider, along with Noguera, who is making his debut this season in the top category of the CET, is a member of the Basque Championship.or you have taken the exit by medical prescription, since you must rest completely to finish healing the intercostal injury completely which has been dragging on for a few weeks and which occurred during the European GP. Of course, it is expected to be ready for Pobladura de las Regueras, in León, in two weeks.

In the rest of the categories in contention, which have a maximum time of four and a half hours to do two laps of the course, the victory has corresponded to the fourth rider of the RFME SPEA National Team, Miquel Gelabert, in TR2; Rafael Latorre, in TR3; Luis Pastor, in TR4, Marc Riba, in Junior; and Sergio Ribau, in Cadet.

The next round of CET 2014 will be held on the weekend of July 4 and 5 and will be in charge of the Club Deportivo Pobladura de las Regueras. All categories will be up for grabs. On Saturday, Youth A and B, and Women’s A and B. On Sunday, TR1, TR2, TR3, TR4, Junior and Cadet.

DECLARATIONS

Toni Bou: “Today’s victory was very important. It was a tight race, a very special race, but with a good result. I started at the front and made a couple of mistakes that cost me two fiascos that I was able to recover from. Fortunately, the second pass through the sections was very positive, but I went through a lot of nerves, and suffering in this way, the victory is much more enjoyable”.

Adam Raga: “The weekend didn’t go as we expected. In the third zone I scored five points on two occasions and, on the contrary, the rest of my rivals passed it. It’s a shame because that area choked me, I had a difficult start and I made two mistakes that meant ten points too many. It’s not the result we expected, but there are still a lot of races left in the Spanish Trial Championship and the most important thing for us is still the World Championship.”

Jorge Casales: “It was quite a difficult trial. For the area where we were, in the Pyrenees, I think it was quite hot. The areas were very steep and technical. In zone three I made two mistakes and it cost me five points in each, although I was able to recover afterwards. Until I fell in zone ten and hurt my wrist. Right after, at eleven, the same thing happened to me and I was touched again in the same damaged area. I finished fair, but I’m happy with how the race went as I was close to the top positions. In principle, the medical tests have diagnosed that I have a strain in my wrist and a little touched the cartilage, but nothing serious. So in a couple of days and
I will be able to continue training with the help of a wrist brace.”
