The 2013 Trial World Championship will be NONSTOP

bou_escocia_400As already advanced Albert Cabestany on his Twitter accountThe FIM has announced its plans to amend the current regulations governing the Outdoor Trial World Championship, making it forbidden for the rider to stop in the area. This regulation is known in trial jargon as “nonstop”.

Cabestany said:
“I’ve just been told that trial is history. He’s dead. RIP TRIAL…”

The change to such a different rulebook can have many meanings. What we do know is thatthe changes to the traditional rules, both in the United Kingdom where NonStop itself was reverted to, and in Spain with Openfree, have not worked. So does the change make sense?

While we wait for more information, we ask ourselves some questions that we would like you to answer in this article.

  • Will much easier zones be marked?
  • Will the TOP drivers have fewer options to differentiate themselves in results compared to the rest?
  • What guidelines will a Motoclub have to mark a Trial World Championship race where a rider cannot stop?
  • What criteria will zone judges have to sanction a stoppage?
  • Will the quality of the show for the fan be lost?
