Australian GP Day 2: Bou more leader

bou_australia2El first GP to be held on Australian  soilhas had a name of its own: Toni Bou. The rider from Piera has scored the victory in both days, adding 40 very important points for the championship and, above all, increasing the distance considerably against his main rivals: Adam Raga and Albert Cabestany.

On the second day, the scores dropped significantly and the big surprise was the second place of Jeroni Fajardo, just 9 points behind Bou and signing a splendid performance.

A good performance was also from Fujinami , third, despite scoring 21 points more than Bou. He managed to overtake one of his main rivals, Adam Raga, who this time was left off the podium and largely loses his chances of standing up to Bou in the fight for the title.

It was a bad day for Cabestany, fifth, despite signing a total with only two points more than Raga. Dani Oliveras has not had the luck either, who yesterday was second and today could only sign a tenth after starring in a beautiful fight with Grattarola.

In Junior, Ferrer won and Moret took second place, leaving Australia with two podiums. Pol Tarrés was sixth on the second day.

Toni Bou: “The forecasts have been fulfilled and on this second day the sections have been much easier than yesterday, but the pressure has been maximum throughout the race since Jeroni has been very strong and they have left me no margin for error. With two wins in the same weekend, we couldn’t have made better use of the trip to Australia, as the double triumph has been added to the benefit of the combination of results from my main opponents.”

Takahisa Fujinami: “We could say that yesterday I lost the podium by the minimum and today I achieved it by the minimum. The first lap went quite well, but the second lap, which was theoretically easier, I made some mistakes. As soon as I reached the last section, I was aware that it was decisive because the podium could be worth it, as well as dropping to fifth position. I withstood the pressure and achieved a result that for me is an incentive ahead of my home GP next weekend.”

Adam Raga: “Today’s first lap went quite badly again, I missed more than I should have and I got a five that, in my opinion, I didn’t make. In any case, I’ll take with me the good work of the second lap, where we recovered ground to be just two points away from the podium. I hope we do better in a week’s time in Japan.”
