Bou wins in Geneva

Fourth consecutive victory for Toni Bou bou_gana The runner-up was Albert Cabestany who, thanks to Raga’s setback, managed to secure second place in the provisional standings. Completing the podium we have Jeroni Fajardo with his new Ossa TR after benefiting in the tiebreaker by numbers of zeros against Raga, who finally had to resign himself to fourth place. Fujinami, fifth, was on the podium this time to beat the British Challoner, who is having an excellent season. The tail of this coin is reflected, again, by James Dabill, who was once again left out in the qualifying round.

Cabes GenoaToni Bou’s numbers are, quite simply, incredible. Not just because he counts his performances in 2011 as victories, but because of the crushing difference he makes to his rivals in each race. Toni is showing that, as a good World Champion, he is a rider of great consistency. In Geneva, the fourth round of six to be played, he once again lifted the crowd out of the stands with extreme finesse of driving and great times.

Toni has scored a total of 10 points. This data is a symptom that the zones have been selective and technical, with one or more steps that defined overcoming the zone cleanly or scoring the maximum score. It was a Trial where the riders had to make a difference in a few areas. The rest, on the other hand, did not pose major problems and this has caused the rest of the riders to set very even times.

For his part, the Sherco rider leaves Geneva in good shape after Jeroni placed his Ossa ahead of the Gas Gas driven by Raga, as he consolidates the provisional runner-up position with only two races to go. In this way, Raga needs, if not some victory, to score as many points as possible in the next rounds and hope that both Fajardo and Fujinami manage to get ahead of Cabestany. If this is not the case, Cabestany, who is also a specialist in Indoor territory, will have the runner-up position on a platter.

In any case, with 40 points still up for grabs, nothing has been said, although the World Cup is a matter of three. The numbers say that if Bou wins again in Madrid on March 12, he could leave the championship sentenced.

Toni Bou: “After adding another victory last Sunday in Barcelona, it was very important to stay focused. It’s great to have won all four races, everything is going very well for us and the motivation is maximum. But we know we can’t be complacent, it’s true that 23 points is a good lead but there are 40 to go and, as we have seen, our main opponent is very strong”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “I felt much better than in Barcelona, I’m more recovered from the injury and I was able to put on a good show. It’s a shame that the two points for over-time have cost me being in the final. But that’s what can happen when you start second in the zones; There are no reliable references of the real time that is invested and everything gets complicated. Even though I finished fifth, I don’t think it’s a bad result this time.”
