Bou wins in Girona to win the title

bou_nacional_indoor12The 2012 Spanish Indoor Trial Championship concluded today in Girona on a very special day, in which in addition to the end of the event, the XXV anniversary of the celebration of the event in this city was also celebrated.

Toni Bou, who arrived in Girona as the leader of the competition, has achieved With his performance today, a new triumph has earned him the 2012 title, which adds to the other five he has won in recent seasons and which confirm him as the rival to beat in this sport.

Displaying the best of his power and precision, Bou beat Fajardo, who was second in front of his home crowd,  while Cabestany completed the podium. 

In addition, Bou has been accompanied in this victory by many of the riders who, during the 25 years of history of the Trial Indoor Ciutat de Girona have been meeting here. Marc Colomer, the rider who has won the race the most times, has joined Bou, Raga, Cabestany and other legends such as Lluís Gallach, Marc Freixa, David Cobos, Joan Freixa, Gabi Reyes and Takahisa Fujinami to commemorate this date.

As happens every year in this now classic event of the Sant Narcís Festivities in Girona, the people of Girona have filled the Fontajau Pavilion; And there they were able to see Toni Bou, Albert Cabestany and Adam Raga together with the three riders from Girona who gave their all in the “home” event: Jeroni Fajardo, Francesc Moret and Dani Oliveras, who chose this event to return to competition.

Although Oliveras and Moret were left out of the tie after the first round, Fajardo was able to defend the local pride; and finally he was third.

With this victory obtained today by Toni Bou in Girona, the twelve-time World Champion equals Adam Raga and Jordi Tarrès in victories in Girona: four; although he still has two to reach the mark of Marc Colomer, who took six wins in this city.

In the Championship, after Bou who occupies the first place, the runner-up has been Albert Cabestany and third has been Jeroni Fajardo.

Toni Bou: “I knew how much was at stake for me in this event to take another step towards the culmination of a fantastic season. Now all that’s left is to finish off in the Spanish Outdoor Championship. It was a tricky trial, especially the second lap, but I felt in an incredible state all day. We worked hard to raise our level and thanks to that today we have achieved very difficult things. It’s nice to win a title with a win like this; It’s been really fantastic.”
