Dani Oliveras will participate with Gas Gas in the Dakar 2014

Oliveras DakarWith one month to go until the start of the 2014 Dakar Rally in Rosario, Gas Gas announces a new addition to its Raids team: the young rider Dani Oliveras will be the new rider of the brand and will compete in the next edition of the Dakar Rally.

Gas Gas Motos has always been committed, in equal parts, to veteran and youth in its competition teams. Thus, in Trial, he has Adam Raga, the only rider capable of challenging the victory of the current World Champion and also a young man who has won the Junior crown this year, Jorge Casales. In Enduro, too.

In 2014, Rodrig Thain and Oriol Mena will fight for the crowns of their respective categories, but in the promotion category it will not be neglected, as it has not been this year with youngsters from Great Britain, Spain or Chile such as Danny McCanney, Diego Rojas or Esteban Lanz. And in the Raids team, Gas Gas maintains the same attitude of combining a team with experienced riders who are joined by young riders in training.

Thus, together with Gerard Farrés and Marc Guasch, two seasoned riders, the Gas Gas team will take Dani Oliveras to the Dakar 2014, a young man who has a lot of potential in this speciality of off-road motorcycles.

ABOUT DANI OLIVERAS

Dani Oliveras (Vilablareix, 1/11/1987) is a 26-year-old rider from Girona who has an extensive career in the trial specialty, where he was Junior World Champion in the 125cc category. After some sporadic participations in Enduro races, last July he participated in the Baja España-Aragón with a spectacular result in the first of the two days of racing. On the last day he suffered an accident that delayed him and prevented him from finishing in third place overall, with which he finished the day before.

Gas Gas will have a total of nine bikes in this 2014 edition of the Dakar Rally, multiplying by three the participation of 2013. This means that not only can it meet the demands of outstanding riders, but also that the Girona-based brand has the trust of amateur riders who have chosen the Gas Gas EC 450 Raid as the most balanced bike to participate in the toughest test in the world.

The 2014 Dakar Rally will start on Sunday, January 5 from the Argentinian town of Rosario and will end on Saturday, January 18 in the Chilean town of Valparaíso. A total of 8,734 kilometres is the route of this edition of the race.

DANI OLIVERAS: “First of all, I have to thank Gas Gas for trusting me to give me this opportunity. Since I was a child I have been attracted to the Dakar and participating was like a dream for me. This year I started to consider the possibility of running some races to go to the Dakar in 2015. In other words, the fact that I can participate in 2014 is a dream that has come true almost unintentionally. That is why I thank Gas Gas.

I think the Baja España-Aragón went very well and it’s a pity for a small mistake that prevented me from making a great result. But I think that the Gas Gas team also noticed me then to give me this opportunity now. And I have to make the most of it. This new experience will be very positive for my future. I want to be in this world, but I know I have a long way to go to get there. Now it’s time to learn a lot and fast.

Anyway, I don’t want to get obsessed with this Dakar. My goal will be to finish one stage after another, and learn a lot from them. The most important thing of all will be to be able to get to the end.”
