Emma Bristow becomes the first woman to win the Torrent Trophy

Women’s World Champion Emma Bristow’s new achievement has been winning the Torrents Trophy, as the UK’s Royal Automobile Club has recognised her for the value of winning seven consecutive World Championship titles.

The Torrents Trophy is awarded annually to riders who are deemed to have made an “outstanding contribution to the cause or technical excellence of safe and skilful motorcycling in the UK or who have made an outstanding technical contribution to furthering the cause of motorcycling or to have demonstrated skill in international motorcycling sporting events”.

Emma is the first woman to receive the award and also the first trial rider to do so. She won thanks to her title of champion at the 2020 Trial GP, but due to the pandemic she had to wait a year to receive the trophy.

The 31-year-old British rider received the trophy at the RAC’s Annual Motorcycle Dinner at the clubhouse at Pall Mall in the heart of London. Bristow said: “I’m really honoured to have won the Torrents Trophy and to be the first woman to win it.

She continued her speech by commenting that she is looking forward to the start of this 2022 season, as she is working hard to try to become champion again. The world champion hopes that her victories will inspire more girls to participate in sports such as trial, because this way, the world will see that not only men can do it.
