Everything is ready for the start of the 2021 Trial World Championship

The 2021 Trial World Championship is preparing for an imminent start in Tolmezzo, where the Italian Grand Prix will be held from June 11 to 13.

After the cancellation of the Japanese and Czech Grand Prix due to the pandemic, everyone is eagerly awaiting the start of a season that, like last year, will have a High-intensity calendar with back-to-back races and some of them double-header. This leaves little margin for error for the pilots.

In total, this season there will be 10 scoring days spread over six locations, with double events in Italy, as well as in Andorra (20-22 August), Spain (10-12 September) and Great Britain (8-10 October). In addition, there will be two scoring days of competition in France, on July 3 and 4 and August 28 and 29.

The TrialGP and Trial2 categories will be present in all calls. In the case of the women (TrialGP Women and Trial2 Women), they will compete in Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, on the Saturday before the Trial of Nations, already in September. The Trial 125 riders will race in Italy, the second round in France and Great Britain, while the TrialE riders will compete in the two French rounds and in Andorra.

TONI BOU, THE UNKNOWN AFTER HIS INJURY

On May 5, alarm bells went off in the Repsol Honda Team, as Toni Bou had to undergo emergency surgery to fix a fibula fracture, which occurred while training. From that moment on, it was a race against time to arrive on time for the Italian GP. As of June 1st, Toni Bou still does not have the OK from the doctors to get on the bike, although it is hoped that the main favorite will be present in the race. Be that as it may, this will be a tough race for the riders, as it is held over two days and that leaves no room for recovery.

Against Toni Bou we have a large group of riders as favourites to fight for the podium and the title. From Adam Raga, the current runner-up, to an increasingly regular Jaime Busto and Jeroni Fajardo fully adapted to his Sherco. It will also be interesting to see if Team GasGas, with Casales and Gelabert, is able to aim for the podium. Also don’t forget Marcelli and Fujinami, who is always a candidate for the top positions.

LAIA SANZ RETURNS TO THE TRIAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Another of the great news is the announcement of Laia Sanz’s return to the TrialGP Women’s World Championship, where she will try to break the hegemony of the British Emma Bristow, with the permission of Berta Abellán and Sandra Gómez.

In any case, an intense, exciting season begins with great unknowns that will begin to be revealed in just ten days.
