Four Basic Trial Moves You Can Improve Today

Rider, we know how frustrating it is when you don’t get the basic trial moves on the bike. And you have to gas because your body doesn’t do what you want it to. It’s like the bike and the body are each going their own way.

It’s not just a problem of technique, so we’ve tried different physical workouts to get the body to do what you want on the bike.
And we have found 4 exercises to improve the basic trial movements that the bike asks you to do, such as holding a braking, pulling the front wheel or sinking the fork to jump.
In this video we show you how to improve with training the 4 movements you need most to go well on the bike.

1) Push of arms to hold the bike
The arms are a very important point of connection with the bike, because they are where you transfer the forces between your body and the beast.
One of the most important basic trial moves that you need to do well with your arms is the power push. You need it every time you have to move the bike, to endure a descent, when landing from a flight or when you have to sink the front fork to go up a step.
To improve your thrust on the bike, we recommend that you practice a movement as basic as push-ups with power, which are done by going down to a normal push-up and going up with maximum force, as we show you in the video.
2) Power jumping, to climb steps
Jumping is something that all riders love to do with the bike, but this movement already requires not only a little more technique, but a little more physicality.
To do a jump like climbing a step well, you need to bend your knees a lot and then stretch them with power to sink the fork and get the bike off the ground.
To improve your jumps with the bike, the best thing you can do is increase your leg power by practicing box jumping exercises, such as the ones we show you in the video. And if jumps are your weak point, run to this other video where we show you the

3) Balance, one of the most basic trial movements
If your balance fails on the bike, you’re out. And especially in trials. You can train it by practicing with the bike, but you will be much more effective and improve faster if you train your balance off the bike as well. If you manage to improve your body’s proprioception, you will control the bike much better.
To train for balance, you can use a bike trial bike or simply do it on the ground. To make it more difficult, close your eyes or add something that forces you to work on coordination. Here are a few more specific tips and exercises to

in these videos. This way, your brain will focus on doing all the basic trial movements in a coordinated way and you will work on balance in the background. Just what happens when you face a zone or a trial.

4) Back traction
Unless you have Toni Bou’s technique, I’m sure that when you go out there to jump with the bike, you get stuck and many times you have to pull the front wheel to get out of an area or finish a jump.
That movement of bringing the handlebars closer to your chest is called traction and you can train it in the gym simply with a barbell or a weight. Training this movement will help you so that you don’t lose effort every time you have to correct the line from a standstill or move the bike by pulling your arms. If this movement fails you, it’s most likely due to a strength and fitness issue. This is just one of the 7 skills you improve with the
