Gas Gas vs Sherco125 2011 Comparison

Statement by Marcos Méndez (Sherco rider – Motos Alfa)

“To say it’s a great bike. As it comes from the factory  , the bike has very good characteristics for the normal user  . Its engine has good power delivery at all speeds. Unlike other brands, the Sherco performs well, both in lows and highs, while the competition bets on highs or  lows. The clutch and gearbox behave very well and the suspensions with a few small adjustments to the tare and spring  are exceptional.

Marcos-Mendez-6Now, all this is for for example a young  kid who is starting  out and does not present a great level of riding. The moment  we need to squeeze the most out of it, since it is a 125, and our level increases,  it is important to make some important changes to both the engine and the clutch.

Therefore, from here on, what we must do is turn it into a racing bike. To do this,  the main thing is  to make changes in the distribution of our cylinder. Making changes in the clutch is also very important since, on the 125 the main way to  carry them is with the clutch and the engine very high in revs, that is, the bike very revved but without moving forward. Therefore, the clutch must behave  perfectly. I repeat that this should be done by someone who demands a lot from the bike. For the normal user, all these changes are totally unnecessary.

At the same time, I would highlight that with  these prepared motorcycles you can do truly  incredible things. When I used my 125 it was all gas based at full throttle and 1st. It was impressive how much the engine could be stretched. 2nd was limited to places where you could take a race, but in general it was almost always 1st and full throttle.

I would highlight that all the years I was running with my Sherco 125 I tried a lot of things. I belonged to different teams and had different experiences. In 2009  I managed to have a great bike but without a doubt I am left with the experience and wisdom of my current MOTOS ALFA team, who for those who want it are capable of making a great 125 and more, if it is Sherco.”

Statement by Nacho Fernández-Sancho “Nachette” (Gas Gas rider – Difrenos – Trialworld)

La Gas Gas 125cc is a bike that from the first moment  you realize that it is a pure competition bike.  The engine is great, in low gear they go well, but in high gear it is spectacular, (it seems that when you accelerate the end never comes), while with other 125cc bikes there are places where you go almost flat out with The Gas Gas is perfectly at half a fist, also the range of possibilities when facing an area is very wide because if you think it is appropriate and you have  to u
There is plenty of engine for this.

promesas_nacho_fdezIn terms of stability, the bike is great between  the Sachs, a shock absorber that has very good performance and the Marzzochi fork with its possibility of adjustment, together with the chassis, it is possible that in addition to helping you in the changes in the steps it does not lose stability  or traction.

Another thing that has impressed me a lot are the brakes, the first time I got on it I almost got off my ears because I didn’t expect such a beastly braking.

In short Gas Gas 125  2011 is a bike in which you always have the feeling of being “superfluous” and in which the only thing you worry about in the areas is thinking about what you want to do, because you know that if you don’t fail, she won’t do it.

Another thing that surprises me about this bike is that when I’m in a race and I coincide for example with Raga and I look at his bike and look at mine, I don’t see big differences in preparations, so I have a street bike that is almost like the racing bike, because apart from putting it to my liking, I don’t touch it to make it better, sometimes I ask myself, but could it?”
