It’s official, Laia Sanz returns to the 2021 Trial World Championship

Determined not to let her competitive fire go out, Laia Sanz has decided to return to the world of trial and compete in the 2021 FIM Women’s Trial World Championship in the TrialGP Women category. Returning to the speciality where she began her motorcycle career, Laia is rekindling her passion for trial and returning to the paddock where she has enjoyed so much success in the past.

Since deciding to return to TrialGP, Laia has been fully focused on preparing for next season, honing her skills to get back into race rhythm, adapt to the regulations and regain sensations in the discipline.

Laia Sanz has accumulated 13 World Champion titles in this discipline. The goal is to achieve a new title, but in front of him he will have a great rider like Emma Bristow, as well as Berta Abellán and Sandra Gómez.

STATEMENTS BY LAIA SANZ & CABESTANY

LAIA SANZ: "I'm very happy to be back competing in trial! It's something I would have liked to do last year, and we had everything ready, but a week before the first TrialGP test I contracted Lyme disease, which forced me to get off the bike for a while. I've wanted to get back to trial for a long time. I've always loved trial and to have the chance to come back with GASGAS is just perfect. Albert, our team principal, is a great guy and a great driver, so I know he will be able to help me a lot. The bike works very, very well, so instead of testing I was able to concentrate on regaining the skills needed to compete at the highest level, and I feel like I'm getting there now. It's been eight years since my last TrialGP season, so obviously I've lost some of my ability, but I feel good and every day I feel more comfortable with the bike. Outside of TrialGP, being named a GASGAS brand ambassador is very important to me. We started our journey together last year, so continuing the brand and being more hands-on with all disciplines is really important. Not only are they really nice to ride, but they're also great for training and who knows, maybe I'll compete in some unique races for fun."

Albert Cabestany: "Having Laia back in trial is great news, not only for the entire GASGAS team, but also for the sport of trial. It will be great to have someone who can challenge Emma Bristow, which will be exciting for the sport. The whole team is excited to welcome her and she is really excited about this new chapter in her racing career. Laia is ambitious, but she is aware that she has been out of trial racing for a few years. He's been practicing a lot, but nothing compared to the riders who have focused 100 percent on trial over the last few years. His level was really high in the past and as we say, 'once a trial rider, always a trial rider'. Your main challenge will be honing your skills without much time to prepare. We've seen Laia do amazing things during her career, so I have no doubt she'll be able to succeed again."
