The Montesa Cota 4RT began to be manufactured in 2005 and is still in the catalogue today, although with several versions. Nowadays you can find two engines in the Montesa – Honda catalogue: the Cota 4RT with 260cc and the Cota 301RR with 298cc.
This four-stroke engine stands out for its reliability, precision and traction. Its Keihin electronic injection has multiple sensors to self-regulate according to parameters such as altitude, thus achieving a homogeneous operation that, in the case of a 2-stroke, is achieved by working on the carburetion.
IMPROVING THE START OF A MONTESA COTA 4RT
All told. The Montesa Cota 4RT is not a bike that has its main virtue in the start. It requires giving a long kick, not too fast, but in a row, leaving the foot down until it starts. There are times when, even following this process, we don’t get off to a good start.
Solution? Turning up the idle, for example. Another option? Do a reset of the ECU, giving three kicks with full throttle (it will not start) and a fourth already without gas.
INCREASE THE IDLE SPEED ON THE MONTESA COTA 4RT
If we choose to increase the idle, we find ourselves with an impossible access for our hand, and with the mandatory use of a screwdriver (especially long). Therefore, it is not operational to increase the idle and then adjust again.
