Miquel Cirera will not continue as Team Manager at the Repsol Honda Team

Miquel Cirera, current Team Manager of the Repsol Honda Team, will not continue next season at the helm of the official team, and his departure from Montesa Honda will be made official on 31 December.

Cirera thus puts an end to a long and fruitful relationship with Montesa that now extends to 46 years, having achieved great sporting successes, among which stand out, in particular, the 30 world titles of Toni Bou, in addition to those obtained by legendary figures such as Fujinami or Lampkin.

Former Repsol Honda Team Manager Takahisa Fujinami is expected to be announced as Miquel Cirera’s successor as Team Manager of the Repsol Honda Team. A team where the young driver Gabriel Marcelli will also play in 2022.

MIQUEL CIRERA: "Through this statement I would like to make public that as of December 31 I will no longer be part of the Repsol Honda Team and Montesa Honda. Since April 1, 1976, when I became part of this great family as a rider of the brand, I have enjoyed each and every one of the moments that I have had to live. Without a doubt, I consider myself very fortunate to have been part of Montesa and to have contributed, together with the rest of the team and the factory, to the enormous sporting successes and development of many models in the range. During these 46 years I have been able to enjoy great moments, but I have also had to live other very hard and complex ones that, without a doubt, have helped me to grow as a person and as a professional. But if there's one thing I'll stick with, it's the good friends I've been able to meet all over the world. I want to take this moment of farewell to thank everyone who has been part of Montesa and the competition team during all these years. Together, we have won 74 world titles! This is a spectacular figure that would not have been possible without the help of each and every one of the people who have accompanied and supported me throughout all these years. I can't go into naming each one, as I'm sure I could leave someone out and it would be unforgivable. For that, THANK YOU VERY MUCH to my family, riders, mechanics, physical trainers, backpackers, doctors, factory employees, sponsors, press officers and friends. Finally, thanks also to all the Montesa fans who have always shown me their passion for the brand. Without you, living this dream would not have been possible. VIVA the trial and VIVA Montesa. Thank you all so much! Miquel CIrera."
