It is a good practice to protect the most delicate parts
of the trial bike
, especially those that are expensive, complicated to replace or more exposed to shocks.
The fork is one of the elements that suffers the most blows. Although the bottles are resistant and small bumps do not affect their performance, only their aesthetics, when these impacts fall on the bottles, problems begin, since the slightest friction generates immediate problems. We are referring to the breakage of the seals and the consequent loss of oil in the fork.
This forces us, at first, to repair the bottle (usually with resin) and then to replace the damaged seal.
The solution that we present to you in this video to avoid scratches on the fork of the trial bike are covers that go in the bottles and prevent damage due to friction, which is the most common. It does not detract from the performance of the fork and is basically a preventive operation.
It is also interesting to remember that there are
fork protectors for trial bikes
MOUNTING FORK BOTTLE GUARDS
Product:
Neoprene Trial Fork Bottle Protectors
– Available at
Trialworld Store
Tool: A set of Allen wrenches
Assembly time: 20 – 30 minutes
Difficulty: 4 (on a scale out of 10)
The assembly operation begins by releasing the brake master cylinder to allow them to be lowered when we release the bottles and are not slowed down by the brake hose.
Once this operation is completed, we must place the bike on a stand, slightly balanced backwards so that the front wheel is in the air. At this point we release the screws of the seatpost so that the bottles can slide underneath. When they are about to leave the last section of the seatpost, we will force ourselves to take out a first bottle and place the protector. Then we put it back on and proceed to do the same operation on the opposite side.
Once the assembly process is finished, we will place two zip ties on each protector, one securing it on the bottle and the other on the top, so that we will ensure that the protection always covers the entire bottle.
In the Trialworld Store you will find all the
spare parts and accessories for your trial bike
