Pamplona opens as the venue for an X-Trial this Saturday, March 25

The FIM X-Trial World Championship reaches its third point of view and will do so this coming Saturday, March 25 in the capital of Navarra, Pamplona, which will be the first venue for the FIM X-Trial World Championship .

WHERE WILL THE PAMPLONA X-TRIAL BE HELD?

The Navarra Arena, a modern and functional facility with a maximum capacity of 10,000 spectators whose construction was completed in 2018, will host the third round of a season that has begun with two different winners in its first two events; Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) and Jaime Busto (GasGas).

TONI BOU AND JAIME BUSTO, AHEAD IN THE STANDINGS

Toni Bou, 16-time Indoor World Champion, and the Basque rider Jaime Busto, arrive in Pamplona after having won in Barcelona and Wiener Neustadt respectively and are separated by 5 points in favor of Bou in the provisional classification of a Championship that has started with a marked Spanish flavor. Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team), who missed out on the podium in Austria, and Adam Raga (TRRS), who returned to the podium after failing to do so in Barcelona, complete the Top 4 of a classification in which Frenchman Benoit Bincaz (Sherco) is fifth in the standings as he adapts to his new machine.

NINE RIDERS WILL TAKE PART IN THE PAMPLONA X-TRIAL

The Spanish participation is completed by Aniol Gelabert (Beta) who made his debut in Wiener Neustadt making a very good impression with his second place in the First Round. Matteo Grattarola (Vertigo) who is still recovering from his pre-season injury, Toby Martyn (Montesa) who is eager to repeat last season’s podium in Chalon-sur-Saône and Sondre Haga (GasGas) who returns after being absent in Austria, complete the line-up of 9 riders who will compete in this first X-Trial in Pamplona.

The Pamplona X-Trial will start at 19:00.

Jaime Busto wins in Austria and closes in on Toni Bou

Pilot Statements

Toni Bou: “For us to have new venues is something fantastic, I’m very happy. In Pamplona we will be looking to fight for the win, we have to be competitive and be at the front. The most important thing will be to go through each round trying not to accumulate too many points. It’s going to be a very tight championship, like in the last few years, and any mistake can put you out of contention. It will be key not to make mistakes, to be focused and to make a difference where we can”

Gabriel Marcelli: “It’s great that different places are encouraged to organize Trial competitions and I hope they have a high-level race. The first two rounds were very tight, in Austria we narrowly missed out on the final, so we went into the third round with a lot of enthusiasm. The goal in Pamplona will be to fight for the victory and collect as many points as possible to close the gap in the general classification.”

Gabriel Marcelli third place in the X-Trial World Championship 2023
