Previous 2 days of Maeztu Classic Trial

betatr34 jarsOn June 28 and 29, a very special event will be held in the town of Maeztu in Álava: the Classic Trial, an unmissable event for a hundred riders who love classic trial in its purest form.

The Moto Club Más Gas once again organizes the Maeztu Classic Trial. It is the sixth edition of the event and this time it repeats the format of two days of competition. The great novelty for 2014 is the fact that The race is brought forward to the end of spring, on June 28 and 29. A more ideal date for the dispute of the race, since it is expected that the weather will be good, in addition to avoiding filling the month of autumn with more events.

Another of the firsts of this edition is the premiere of the new website of the Moto Club Más Gas (www.motoclubmasgas.com), from which you can register for the race and be informed of everything that happens in the race: news, list of participants, photos, route, classifications…

The Trial de Clásicas de Maeztu is a race recognized at a national level for the balanced level, for taking place in an incomparable place with a varied and rich terrain between forests of beeches, holm oaks and limestone and for the organizational quality of the test, in charge of the Moto Club Más Gas.

Complete and beautiful tour

The competition will be held over two race days, Saturday and Sunday. On the unique route, of about twenty kilometres between Maeztu and Sabando, there will be 20 areas of different degrees of difficulty. They will be areas of great beauty and a purely classical style, making the most of the excellent terrain around Maeztu for the practice of Trial. The zones will be marked, as usual for three levels (yellow, green and blue).

The route, as we have anticipated, will run between the towns of Maeztu and Sabando and it will be necessary to refuel halfway through the route. As has been done in previous editions, the rider will have a refreshment station in Sabando, at the halfway point of the race, before filling the tank of his bike. The paddock, where the start, finish and direction of the race will be located, will be located in the town of Maeztu, as in past editions.

As soon as Sunday’s day is over, the Moto Club Más Gas will present the prizes to the best classified, as well as offering a snack so that those who have to make a long return trip can leave immediately.

Other activities

As is also usual in the organization of the Más Gas, different activities have been planned in addition to the celebration of the Trial. On Saturday afternoon, a snack will be prepared for pilots and companions at the Izki bar, and outside, you can enjoy a demonstration of typical crafts from the mountains of Alava, while it will be accompanied by some typical activity of the area. All those who attended last year will have great memories of the demonstration of Aizkolaris (log cutters) and Harrijasotzailes (stone lifters) that delighted the attendees, and even managed to encourage some brave trialists to try.

Guest ‘star’ pilots

The names of the Trial that in the last edition gave greater relevance to the Two Days of Trial of Classics of Maeztu were the champions Jordi Tarrés and Amós Bilbao. This year they have been invited again, but the Moto Club Más Gas has extended the invitation to one of the riders who made trial grow in our country, in addition to achieving different national titles: Manuel Soler, ‘El Monstruito’. The veteran Catalan rider will contrast with the youth of the Biscayan Jaime Busto, winner of the Japanese Grand Prix and leader of the Junior World Cup, who in the last edition did not want to miss the experience of riding a bike that had stopped being manufactured when he was born.

Technical news

In this new edition of the Maeztu Classics Trial, the Moto Club Más Gas returns to the classic scoring system of classic trials, in which one foot equals one point. In other words, there will be no coefficients or equipment. You will be able to participate in the trial both as classic bikes, as well as with ‘post classics’ (motorcycles with monoshock or disc brakes, but always air-cooled).

The areas will be marked with the criterion of making a trial accessible to all, to enjoy the classic trial to the fullest, and always avoiding passes that may involve some danger. In particular, in the yellow level, we will try to simplify the areas so that all riders can enjoy the weekend to the fullest, taking into account that this level is home to older bikes or occasional participants.

Registrations & Licenses

The The registration form for the Two Days of Classic Trial of Maeztu will be accessible from the first week of May and will close at 24 hours on Tuesday, June 24. TAll the procedures will be carried out through the new website of the Moto Club Más Gas: www.motoclubmasgas.com.
