Raga wins in Castelloli

raga_acc_480_2Adam Raga beat his main rival, Toni Bou, in the first race held outdoors in 2012, scoring for the Spanish Trial Championship. This race was a maximum expectation for the drivers, as well as for the brands and fans, as it was after Toni Bou’s unstoppable dominance, it was now time to measure themselves on natural ground. with the added incentive of being very close to the factories and being held in an environment that usually hosts World Cup events.

From a sporting point of view , the controversial Openfree regulation finally disappeared to make way for the traditional scoring system. This change, predictably, has led to a significant increase in the difficulty of the areas, as reflected in the high race scores . As a representative fact, we have that the sixth driver classified in TR1 has delivered a card with 88 points, among which there are 15 fiascos.

Therefore, suffering for the newcomers and an opportunity to make a difference between the main favourites. Bou and Raga quickly distanced themselves from the rest of the rivals and on the first lap they made it clear that the fight for victory would be between the two of them. Both finished the first pass through the twelve sections of the route tied on eight points , while their closest pursuer, Fajardo, already added eleven more and Cabestany six more than the latter.

MAXIMUM EXCITEMENT

The excitement was, therefore, to see what would happen in the second pass through the zones. In the end, Bou committed a fiasco that he paid dearly for, as Raga did an impeccable job and gave his opponent no chances. The Gas Gas rider is, therefore, the first leader of the 2012 Spanish Championship.

podiumcastelloliThe podium was completed by Albert Cabestany, after making amends for his discreet first lap and cutting Fajardo enough margin to snatch the third step of the podium. The rider from Beta, on the other hand, lost all options on this second lap, where he was penalized ten points more than in the first pass through the sections.

The winners in the rest of the categories were: TR2 Ivan Peydro, Junior Jaime Busto, TR3 Hector Gairin, TR3 +35 Antoni Ramonet and Cadet Marc Riba.

The second of the six scoring races will take place on March 25 in Ibiza.

Adam Raga:
“I’m very happy to win this first round of the national championship, especially because of the good riding I did throughout the day. I want to thank the work of my backpackers Ramon and David, as well as the whole team.”

Toni Bou:
“We don’t have any other goal than to win
But we are fully aware that this is a very important line. hard to follow. Today I made mistakes and the win went my way. Escaped. Of course, I don’t feel satisfied but the most positive thing After the win is second place, so don’t I’m going to complain about the result. I felt comfortable in this trial and with the return to the traditional rules, but it is also true that it has It took a lot of effort to get into the race. Maybe it’s because at the moment my mind is much more focused on indoor events and the fight for a new world title in that modality.”
