Linking to the
first part of the report on the secrets of children’s trials
, where we learned important notions about the motivation and quality of learning that a child should have, we are now going to focus on how we should approach their growth stage.
At Trialworld we have launched the only Trial School in the central area specialized entirely in Trial, focused on the work of all the notions that we develop in our reports. Of There is no point in planning the Trial training towards a sporadic training plan with big stars, This does not guarantee continuity, nor a personalized training plan, much less that the groups are small. We don’t bet on i eitherInculcate training or customs of other off-road specialties, as the demands are completely different. Trial has always been a simple sport, and it will always remain so. For this reason, the pillars of improvement are based on regularity, motivation and knowing how to polish the hundreds of small nuances that we must work on throughout their progression.
The degree of locomotor development determines what the child can learn. It’s that clear. If a motorcycle leaves the production line before the wheels or cylinder are assembled, we will have a null result, and the same can be said of a child with 6 or 8 years in full development. What’s more, a poor approach to the early stages can lead to a total abandonment of interest in the specialty and the impossibility of developing the training plan that we have established.
Development Stage
Motor skills undergo a significant evolution during the first years. Parents or coaches should know that movement patterns are acquired very quickly at these ages and a solid foundation can be achieved that allows for great progress later.
This ease also contrasts with the limitations when it comes to assimilating large workloads in terms of intensity, not extent. We are going to study the stages of development according to the age range.
Childhood (between 1 and 5 years old)
This age is characterized by a high predisposition to play and low concentration. We must avoid repetitive or long tasks, so the practice should be varied and approached as a game.
We can say that now the child can assimilate wide extensions of work, but of low intensity, which will enhance their aerobic capacity. In this first phase, once you have grasped the first notions of balance with the bicycle, it is interesting to make small excursions that favor dexterity at the controls, combined with brief training sessions doing technical areas. These can be successions of turns with and without unevenness, gradually forcing the affinity and synchronism of the controls.
Second childhood (age 6 through puberty)
At this stage, above all, the physical quality of the rider improves. There are significant increases in strength, endurance, concentration, dexterity and cognitive abilities.
The progressive loss of the prominence of the game is giving way to a way of working that already has a certain relationship with the method that an adult athlete has. At this age, the important thing is that the child develops skills in different sports and extracurricular activities, since each of them will enrich to a greater or extent those related to Trial, such as teamwork, optimization of the aerobic system, speed, endurance and coordination.
As far as the Trial is concerned, it will be the age to participate in the first competitions, where we must transmit good sensations, without abruptness or demands. This could have the opposite effect if there are strong scoldings or uncomfortable situations for the child, since their goal will be, more than having fun in the races, to avoid fights.
In terms of training, it is a perfect age for acclimatization to different types of approach, as it will positively value dynamism and diversity; For our part, we will be able to exploit its versatility and versatility.
In short, both parents and coaches have it in our hands to ensure that motivation and learning are two concepts that always go hand in hand. In this way, the results will be more positive and will build an excellent foundation for the third and final stage, which we will talk about in the next chapter: puberty.
