Toni Bou has added his eighth victory of the current season of the Trial World Championship, out of a possible eight, in the Spanish GP, held in the Alicante town of La Nucía. Adam Raga was second and regained the runner-up position in the world championship. Gabriel Marcelli is the new Trial2 World Champion and Vivian Wachs also takes first place in Trial2 Women.
The 2019 Trial World Championship concludes with a total of 7 GPs contested and a total of 8 scoring races (Japan has a double race). A season where the great dominance of Toni Bou has once again been manifested, who adds his 13th consecutive outdoor world title, with the particularity of being the only campaign where he has signed a full of victories. An overwhelming superiority, although his rivals have once again made things very difficult for him.
In the Spanish Grand Prix we saw a very demanding race, especially in the second half of the course, where there was even a zone, the fourteenth, that no TrialGP rider was able to overcome. Again complications with the time of the first zone, causing penalties of up to 11 points. Only Peace and Price escaped these bonus points.
Great dominance by Toni Bou in both laps, with Raga finishing six points behind his great rival, thus signing his seventh second position of the season, a result that allows him to reconquer the title of runner-up in the world. Fujinami found himself with the third step of the podium, benefited, in large part, by the 11 penalty points of Jeroni Fajardo, who arrived in La Nucía with options to dispute the second place to Raga.
SANCTION TO JERONI FAJARDO
On Saturday,
Jeroni Fajardo was also sanctioned for breaching the FIM anti-doping regulations
, through which he has been suspended for 12 months. A date that begins to count from September 16, 2018 and that, therefore, has expired before this Spanish GP is held. In other words, Jeroni Fajardo’s 13 points in La Nucía have been the only ones he has scored all season. And therefore, the third place in the championship goes to Fujinami.
After Jeroni, Busto, Gelabert and Casales finished in a handkerchief of only 3 points.
GABRIEL MARCELLI TRIAL2 WORLD CHAMPION
In Trial2, Gabriel Marcelli’s comeback was consolidated, who not only finished ahead of his main rival, Matteo Grattarola, but also won and convinced. This is excellent news for one of the strongest talents in our sport. Joining Marcelli on the podium were Luca Petrella and Aniol Gelabert.
In TrialGP Women, victory and title again for Emma Bristow, who is unbeatable in her category. Behind, a brilliant Berta Abellán, getting closer and closer to the records of her rival, and Sandra Gómez, who signs the third final step of the championship.
