The Spanish Trial Cup was once again synonymous with a world-class show this Sunday in Mazarrón thanks to the brilliant performance of riders belonging to the international elite such as Vera Barón, Alejandro Montalvo, Eloi Palau, Borja Conejos, Daniel Barón, Benito Ros or Toni Guillen, who provided the audience with a great competition on the different areas proposed by the organizing club, the Cartagena Bike Trial.
A THRILLING FINAL
Under a morning of pleasant temperatures and skies with clouds and clearings, a test took place that had as protagonists in the finals of the elite categories, which were the ones that attracted the most attention from the public, the following pilots: Vera Barón -world champion-, Laia Esquis, Irene Camino, Alba Riera and Monica Castellá were measured in the women’s final; while Borja Conejos -world champion-, Alejandro Montalvo -world runner-up-, Eloi Palau -third in the last World Championship-, Daniel Barón and Toni Guillen were the competitors in the men’s final.
VERA BARÓN, FAVORITE
The undisputed favourite, Vera Barón, won clearly by adding 570 points to the 490 points of a great Alba Riera, who took second place. The podium was completed by Irene Caminos with 350 points.
THRILLING FIGHT FOR VICTORY
Among the men, Alejandro Montalvo took the victory and the first lead in the general classification of the Spanish Cup after finishing with 280 points and adding one point more than Eloi Palau, who had to settle for the second step of the podium due to a penalty. Third place went to reigning world champion Borja Conejos, who finished with 270 points.
