Toni Bou caresses the National Trial after winning in Candeleda

The sixth round of the National Trial was held this weekend in Candeleda, Ávila. After the conclusion of the Trial World Championship and the Trial of Nations, it is time for the riders to focus all their efforts on the national championship. About 70 registered have been in this event with six categories called: TR1, TR2, TR3, TR4, Junior and Cadet.

Yesterday, as usual, qualifying was held where Toni Bou was the best followed by Adam Raga and Albert Cabestany. With these results, it was expected that all three would be fighting for the victory, but others such as Jaime Busto or Jeroni Fajardo should not be ruled out.
Throughout the weekend it has been very hot and we are already in autumn and the temperatures should drop. But it wasn’t to be and both the riders and the organization had to overcome it. The Moto Club Candeleda Gredos has been in charge of bringing the race to a successful conclusion and has prepared areas that were easy to access, which has contributed to the public not missing the performance of the riders.
With a very similar route to other years, the race in the premier class was defined in the second lap when Toni Bou has only scored 6 points to Adam Raga’s 16 and Jaime Busto’s 18 which, in the end, have finished second and third, respectively.
In TR2 Pablo Suárez took the victory with a total of 23 penalties. Eric Miquel was second with 39 and Sergio Ribau third with 52. In TR3 Francesc Recio was first and leaving his other rivals far behind. He has only had 8 points on his card. Sergio Moreno qualified second and Sandra Gómez third. Sergio Puyo, Jordi Ramonet and Álvaro Blázquez have occupied the three places of honour in TR4 after having 2, 5 and 8 points each.
In Junior things have been tighter. The three riders who in the end have been fighting for the victory have finished very even in points. Pau Martínez was the one who managed to win with 21. Rodrigo Marchal and Pol Mediña finished second and third with 1 point difference between them.
Something similar has happened in Cadete between Carlos Palma and Roger Casas. The two Beta Trueba riders fought until the last section. Palma has won, also proclaiming himself champion of Spain with two races still to go, and Casas has climbed to the second step of the podium. Gaudí Vall has closed the top three.
With today’s results, Toni Bou distances himself in the general classification from Jaime Busto; Eric Miquel de Pablo Suárez in TR2; Pol Mediña by Rodrigo Marchal in Junior; Francesc Recio by David Millán in TR3; Carlos Palma of Lluc Miquel in Cadet and Sergio Puyo of Álvaro Blázquez in TR4.
The next round of the SPEA RFME Spanish Trial Championship will be held in Becerril de la Sierra, Madrid, on the weekend of October 20 and 21 with the same categories that have competed today.

DECLARATIONS

Toni Bou P1
We found the TR2 riders in the early sections and that caused us to fall behind, causing a slow race. We found ourselves with a trial with few points, but the sections were very physical. We went behind Adam, who was a good reference, also on the time penalty. We’re satisfied with the race we did because physically it was tough and I’m happy with the performance I had, where my body responded very well. In addition, first place is very good for the championship. We can’t take anything for granted until the last race, but we’re on the right track.
