The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme has announced today the cancellation of the last round of the 2022 X-Trial World Championship, which was scheduled to take place at the end of October, and this directly awards the world title to Toni Bou.
Repsol Honda Trial Team rider Toni Bou has mathematically clinched the title of 2022 X-Trial World Champion after the cancellation of the last round scheduled for October 21. The Montesa Cota 4RT rider’s current advantage over his rivals makes it possible for Bou to add one more title to his extensive track record, 16th in X-Trial, before the end of the season.
Toni Bou has a total of 16 X-Trial world titles and this September he has everything in his favour to add the same number of titles in TrialGP, extending his record as the athlete in the world of motorcycling with the most world titles in history.
Toni Bou now has 31 world titles in Trial
Since winning his first X-Trial title in 2007, Toni Bou has not stopped accumulating titles. In addition to these 16 consecutive X-Trial titles, he also has another 15 in TrialGP, which means that the Repsol Honda Trial Team rider has a total of 31 world crowns.
100% X-Trial wins in 2022
With four victories in the four indoor races held this year (Nice, Chalon-sur-Saone, Madrid and Barcelona), Toni Bou has accumulated a total of 87 points this indoor season, 20 for each win, in addition to the points for winning 7 of the 8 laps held in total. This has given him a difference of thirty points over the second-placed Adam Raga. With one race to go in the calendar, and with a maximum score of 22 points at stake, mathematically Toni Bou is already the 2022 X-Trial champion.
The last race of the 2022 X-Trial championship will be on October 8 at the Polisportiu d’Andorra la Vella, in Andorra.
HE IS ALSO CLOSE TO THE 2022 OUTDOOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
After the event held in Cahors, France, last weekend, Toni Bou is one step away from winning a new World Champion medal in the outdoor, TrialGP. With the two races of the Italian TrialGP remaining, Bou has a 36-point lead over the second-placed rider. The Repsol Honda Trial Team rider only needs to finish the race to start the celebration. It will be his 16th consecutive outdoor title and the 32nd in his individual sporting career.
