Toni Bou is proclaimed national indoor trial champion

Bou Victoria 5002013 Spanish Indoor Trial Championship concluded in Girona with the victory of Toni Bou, who took his third victory of the season and his seventh consecutive national title in this specialty.

Bou, who arrived in Girona as the leader of the competition, has won all three events held this year in Malaga, Zaragoza and Girona, which confirms him even more as the rival to beat in this sport.

However, neither Albert Cabestany nor Jeroni Fajardo, second and third respectively in both today’s race and the Championship, have made it easy for them.

Cabestany landed in Girona in second place overall and just one point ahead of Fajardo who, born in Girona, participated with the special motivation of playing “at home” and being closer than ever in his career to the runner-up.

The Sherco rider sealed one of his best performances of the season and soon distanced himself from Fajardo, even coming close to the victory and putting Bou on the ropes in a heart-stopping final.

In the end, however, Bou had a little more skill and luck in the last sections and finished off a victory that he considers “very important”, apart from the title, because of the “great difficulty” and for having had a rider like Cabestany so close, whom he congratulated repeatedly.

As happens every year in this now classic event of the Sant Narcís Festivities in Girona, the Girona people have filled the Fontajau Pavilion, and there they have been able to see Toni Bou, Albert Cabestany and Jeroni Fajardo along with other top-level riders such as Adam Raga, Francesc Borrellas and Francesc Moret, also from Girona; as well as Pol Tarrès and Marc Prat, the two young riders who qualified in the morning round held behind closed doors.

With this triumph obtained by Toni Bou in Girona, The fourteen-time World Champion has five consecutive victories at the Girona Indoor Trial and beats Adam Raga and Jordi Tarrès, who have accumulated four, although he still has one to reach the mark of Marc Colomer, who won six in this city.

Toni Bou: “In addition to my satisfaction at having defended the title, victories like this one today are a great added joy for me. Albert (Cabestany) had a great race and made it very difficult for me, so I had to fine-tune as much as possible. I’ve had a great time because it’s in these high-difficulty tests when you can give it your all, regardless of whether you win or not. It is in these conditions that all the fruits of the work in training come to the fore. The bike also worked perfectly, super effective as always and this is also a very important factor in the result.”
