Toni Bou sweeps Candeleda. Raga, the Great Absentee

Bou Candeleda14For the first time in its history, the Castilian-Leonese town of Candeleda has been the scene of a valid event for the Spanish Outdoor Trial Championship. To date, it had only hosted scoring events for the Castilla y León and Extremadura Championships. To be exact, twice, in 2012 and 2013.

The man in charge of bringing this sixth game of the season to a successful conclusion has been the Moto Club Candeleda-Gredos, who has prepared for his debut as organiser a Route of 12 areas nestled in the natural pools of this town bordering the Autonomous Communities of Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha and predominating in them the granitic rock – although there has also been some section of land.

The rain that fell during the previous night, as well as during a good part of the morning, has complicated the sections very much; turningsome of the steps outlined into almost impossible challenges. Hence the very high scores of the vast majority of participants.

The winner of this third edition of the Candeleda Trial was Toni Bou. The reigning champion, recently proclaimed World Champion in Natural Trials for the eighth time, has completed the mandatory route, which the TR1 overcomes by passing through each of the zones twice in a row , with a total of 42 points. Then, with 74 points, Jeroni Fajardo finished, while Albert Cabestany completed the podium after scoring 89 points; one less than Jorge Casales, who finished fourth.

The pilots of the RFME SPEA National Team Pol Tarrés; Jaime Busto, new Junior World Champion; and Oriol Noguera have qualified in fifth, sixth and seventh place, respectively, with 93, 100 and 106 points.

Cabestany Nacional14Adam Raga, winner in Pobladura de las Regueras (León), the previous appointment, He has not taken part here as he is recovering from the recent operation to which it has been subjected in order to solve the Scaphoid problems that he has dragged in one of his wrists and that have conditioned his performances in the final stretch of the last World Cup to the natural.

In the rest of the categories in contention, which have a maximum time of four and a half hours to do two laps of the course, the victory has corresponded to Miquel Gelabert , also a pilot for the RFME SPEA National Team, in TR2; Francesc Recio, in TR3; Luis Pastor, in TR4, Marc Riba, in Junior; and Gabriel Marcelli, in Cadet.

The next round of the CET 2014 will be held on October 26 in the Madrid town of Cabanillas de la Sierra and will be in charge of the Madrid Motorcycling Federation. Once again, the TR1, TR2, TR3, TR4, Junior and Cadet categories will be summoned.

CANDELEDA NATIONAL TRIAL CLASSIFICATION 2014

Toni Bou: “I’m very happy with how I competed today and with the final result. Also because of how the race went, which although it was complicated with the rain that fell yesterday and today, it became much more difficult. I’m not a rider who likes to race in the wet, but today I think I had a good race: I was comfortable, I found the right grip in some areas that were skidding a lot, and I was able to get a good points advantage that allowed me to manage the race. To be at the top of the championship with an 11-point lead, with two races to go, is very positive.”
