Toni Bou wins in Sigüenza

Toni Bou has added his second victory of the year in the Sigüenza Trial, the fourth scoring event for the Spanish Trial Championship; second for the TR1 category. Adam Raga, second, and Jaime Busto, third, followed him on the podium.

After four consecutive seasons being the scene of a valid event for the Spanish Trial Championship, the Castilian-La Mancha town of Sigüenza took a well-deserved break in 2015. A pause that, luckily for fans, has been barely a year. Not surprisingly, this municipality of just over 4,000 inhabitants has returned to the calendar again, and has done so to host the fourth of the nine races scheduled for this 2016; the second for TR1.
Well, as in its three previous editions, the winner of the Sigüenza Trial has been Toni Bou. The reigning champion has once again been the best in the 12 zones prepared by MC Alto Henares; Sections very similar to those seen seasons ago and in which large steps of sand and granite stone have again predominated, along with earth and loose stone.
Adam Raga TRS 2016
The
Montesa Honda
rider, who already won the TR1 debut this year in Sant Joan (Mallorca) almost three months ago, has completed the mandatory route, which the TR1 overcomes by passing twice in a row through each of the sections, with only 16 points. Then, with 24 points, Adam Raga finished with
TRS,
while Jaime Busto completed the podium after scoring 38 points.
In the rest of the categories in contention, which have a maximum time of five hours to do two laps of the route, the victory has corresponded to Marc Riba, in TR2; Francesc Recio, in TR3; David Oliver, in TR4, Pablo Suárez, in Junior; and Martín Riobo, in Cadet.
In this test, a new sound time control device was tested. The device, which has already been tested at the Italian competition for the specialty, is programmed to emit a beep after a minute and a half. From that moment until 1:40, a flashing green light warns the judge that the driver is in overtime. After these 10 seconds, the device emits a second audible warning in the form of a double beep. With this ingenious and simple sound time control system, the zone judge only has to worry about starting the device; You don’t have to look at and control the stopwatch, so it improves your observation and decision-making.

DECLARATIONS

Toni Bou: It was a complicated trial for me, because with the injury we even considered not racing here. The evolution has been good and I wanted to test myself. I pushed and now we’ll have to get back on track for the race in Germany, but here it went well. I’m happy with how I rode despite several mistakes that I was able to fix on the second pass.
Jaime Busto: I’m happy to be able to open a bottle of cava in Sigüenza after how badly I did in Mallorca. Here, today, the first passes didn’t go very well for me, but I was able to fix it on the second pass because I felt very comfortable with the bike despite the difficulty of the sections. The altitude of the race didn’t help much, but I’m satisfied with the result.
Martín Riobo: I would like to congratulate the organization of Sigüenza for the great work done, with a high level of zones, as I like. I felt very comfortable but I relaxed too much on the first lap. Congratulations to my teammate Pol Mediña because he is making it more and more difficult for me. I leave with a good taste in my mouth from Sigüenza which was the fourth scoring race and I have achieved victory in all four tests. Now let’s focus on Pobladura de las Regueras because I’m going for another victory.
