The
2022 Trial World Championship
has passed its halfway point with the German GP, being very balanced in favour of Toni Bou, who accumulates 23 points over Jaime Busto, who is currently the only rider capable of opting for the world title. A fact favored by the disqualification of Adam Raga on the second day of competition, dropping in the general classification.
Another of the big surprises has been that of Matteo Grattarola, who although he had an excellent 2021 season, in the current campaign he had not finished finding his rhythm. In Germany, Grattarola took third and second positions, with the added merit of having led much of the race on Sunday.
We were talking about Jaime Busto. The Basque rider is achieving his big unfinished business: consistency. On Saturday he was second and on Sunday third, but with the same points as the second (Grattarola). This puts him just under a race behind Toni Bou in points, so he has a full chance of fighting for the championship.
Toni Bou passes the halfway point of the championship with a completely favourable provisional classification, so it would be natural for him to renew the title in 2022, with the permission of Jaime Busto, who is showing himself to be the most consistent rider
Adam Raga, disqualified
Adam Raga has had a weekend to forget. On Saturday he was sixth, far from what the rider from Tarragona needs to keep the pulse of the world championship in this second half of the calendar. A result that forced him to go all out on Sunday to recover points, but he found the opposite.
The race wasn’t going as he had hoped, completing the first lap in seventh position. In the second lap he came back and would have been fifth, but the organization informed him that he had been disqualified, adding zero points on this day of competition.
WHY WAS ADAM RAGA DISQUALIFIED?
At the exit of zone number eleven, which was to the right of the training area, and immediately to his left zone twelve, both separated by barely a hundred meters, the route of the interzone signaled a direction to the left, but Raga turned in the other direction.
Actually, Raga did not get any advantage for this, but by not following the marked route, the regulations state that the rider must be excluded from the competition.
According to Raga: “It’s been a bad weekend for us. Race Direction has decided to disqualify me for not following the route between zone 11 and 12, which were less than 100 meters away. With all the crowd in front of you, and not being able to do the interzone on Friday, in the race you go blind, and when there is a poorly defined route, you can make mistakes. In any case, although it is reflected in the regulations, it seems to me to be an excessive penalty, since at no time have I benefited from having skirted zone 11 in another direction.”
After the German GP, Raga is third, 41 points behind Toni Bou, losing practically all options to aspire to the title.
It is worth mentioning the great weekend of Jeroni Fajardo, who has added two fourth positions and on Saturday he was second for a good part of the race, finishing with the same points as the third classified. If we add to this the double podium of the Andorran GP, we see that Jeroni Fajardo is already fourth in the provisional standings, just two points behind Raga.
Behind him, in fifth position, Miquel Gelabert finished at the controls of his new GASGAS TXT 2023.
