The Spanish rider, who was making her debut in an international trial event with Gas Gas, won with only two penalty points over the British Rebekah Cook and Emma Bristow , who scored 13 and 19 points, respectively.
“Today it was easy to slip and make a mistake because the terrain was wet from yesterday’s rains, so I decided to start first to do my race and not have to keep an eye on the others,”
she says.
Laia Sanz has felt comfortable and has shown that she is adapting better and better to the 2-stroke bike:
“Yesterday we had to work a bit on the bike to keep looking for the set-up that suits my riding style and I think we found a good compromise because today I felt very comfortable.”
This victory reinforces the confidence of the multi-time champion at a delicate moment of the season and lays the foundations for the conquest of her eleventh continental title. “It’s an important win for me because I hadn’t had references from my rivals for quite a few months and I didn’t know how they were fit. The last half year, with everything about the Dakar, I’ve trained very little trial and, in addition, the knee injury has kept me out of the game for a month, so I was a bit uneasy. Fortunately everything went well and I now feel more confident in my chances of winning the championship, although there is still a lot of work to do.” Concludes.
