Who gets Adam Raga’s TRRS in 2024?

TRS Motorcycles announced on September 13, through a press release, that the professional relationship between the brand and Adam Raga would end at the end of this 2023 season.

In that letter, Jordi Tarrés, partner of the brand and director of competition, stated that “At TRRS we think that the time has come to start a change of stage, with the determination to give more opportunities to the new generations of drivers, to continue betting on racing and the world championship.”

It seemed clear that this decision was, mainly, a change of course in the brand’s philosophy in the field of competition, but not a goodbye. Now, with the world championship already concluded and with only a couple of indoor trial races to be held, the dance of riders to define their teams for next season, begins to increase its pace.

ADAM RAGA’S MOVEMENT EARRINGS

Adam Raga wants to stay in competition, at least in 2024. Since this statement was released, the Tarragona native has worked tirelessly to find a competitive structure for next year, and the result of these negotiations will be known in a maximum of three or four weeks.

It seems that the brand where Adam Raga’s name sounds the most is the Sherco team, which would see in Adam a key figure for the development of the new electronic injection model, dropping Jeroni Fajardo from the official bike.

On the other hand, less likely but very interesting, would be Raga’s move towards GASGAS. This would make sense for the Girona-based brand, now under the umbrella of KTM in Austria, to capitalise on Raga’s popularity towards the brand, also remembering that the brand’s best years in recent decades have been with Adam Raga.

The third possibility, much more remote, but which has been explored, is to place a third official Montesa and have its pilot be Adam Raga. It is not the first time that Montesa has three official bikes in TrialGP and this move would make sense for the brand to have more options to stop Jaime Busto and ensure dominance of the category with its four-stroke bike.

WHO GETS ADAM RAGA’S TRRS?

Linking with the previous point, it is most likely that TRRS will decide to continue its presence in the top category, with a young and more economical driver in terms of budget than Adam Raga.

The name that sounds the most is that of Aniol Gelabert, who already knows what it’s like to ride a TRRS One, since he was a rider within the Mediser Trial Team satellite structure in 2020 and precisely won a round of the Trial2 World Championship in that season.

Aniol started the 2023 season as Beta Motor’s number one driver after Matteo Grattarola left for Vertigo. The return of the Italian driver, in the middle of the 2023 season, meant that Aniol kept his position as official driver, but sharing a structure with Matteo.

Given this situation, it would have been interesting for Aniol Gelabert to move to TRS Motorcycles as the brand’s number one rider. In this way, TRRS ensures its presence in the top category with a local, young and promising driver.

There is no official confirmation from either party, but everything points to this alliance being a reality and would be communicated in the coming weeks, with the X-Trial series already concluded.

This coming Saturday the X-Trial of Madrid will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Madrid Arena. You can get your ticket at Marca Entradas and get a 10% discount with the code: 2023TRIALWORLD
